"Welcome to the roasted bean Ash," Garrett gestured towards the sign. I rushed straight from my interview to my training shift. Garrett met me out front of the cafe, "Everyday as soon as you arrive you go in from the back," I followed him as he headed through an alley on the side of the cafe. He stopped at a off-white door. A black card scanner was attached to it, "You'll get your key card next week but for now, you can borrow Chase's."

"K." I nodded. He scanned his card and the door clicked as it opened. As we stepped inside I was greeted by a cool gust of air. We were now in the kitchen.

"You won't been in here much, but you'll be going through here," We pushed open two big doors and we were now behind the counter, "For the first two hours you will be behind the register and serving food. Then we'll work on the coffee." I put my bag under the register and put on the half-apron given to me.

"Ash, sit here." Garrett patted a stool behind the cash register."When customers come here to order, ask them what they want, give them some ideas if they're not sure and then type in their table number that you'll give to them."

"Sounds Good!"

"If you hear a ding then go collect the item and hand it to the table number on the piece of paper. You ready?"

"Yep." I sat on the stool as two middle-aged women walked in. "Welcome to the roasted bean!"

"Thank you," one replied "We'd like to order two green tea latte's." she handed me a 20 dollar note.

"Coming up." I pushed the corresponding buttons and handed them their change. I printed out the receipt and handed it to the barista. I had met her a couple of times. Her name was Mia and she had short brown hair and blue eyes. She worked at the coffee's with all her effort. She went to westbridge grammar. She looked like a senior but I couldn't be sure.

"Hey, you must be River." She smiled at me.

"That's me," I grinned back, "You can just call me Ash."

"K." She handed me the two coffee's and I slowly walked to the table and placed them down. One of the women smiled and handed me ten dollars.

"For your first day." She smiled. I blushed. It was my first ever tip. I mouthed a thank you and waddled back to the counter.

Mia laughed,"You looked mortified!"

"Oh, really?''

"Just a bit, put your tips in your apron pocket."

"K,thx."
