Chapter 9: Cat noir

After bringing Jean Paquier back to his workshop, Cat noir is sitting on a park bench. It's late, and is now dark out.
Man, I missed an entire day of school for this! I'm sure they won't mind. After all, I did turn to wood.

Then he sees her. Lady bug lands in front of him.
"Missed me, kitty cat?"
Cat noir smiles.
"Always, My lady."
He pats the bench beside him.
"Sit with me?"
Lady bug lifts an eyebrow.
"What about The important thing?"
Cat noir smiles crookedly.
"Heh. Let me work up to it?"
"Sure."
Lady bug sits beside him.
He takes a deep breath and turns to face her.
Holy shit I'm doing it. Okay. Here goes.
"We've known each other for quite some time, eh bugaboo?"
Lady bug chuckles.
"Yeah, I guess we have."
Cat noir gulps.
"I'm not sure if you know this, but my flirting all the time? It's not just for jokes."
Lady bug lowers her head.
"I know."
Cat noir's eyes widen.
"You do?"
"Yes. I know you have feelings for me."
"I do. I have for a long time."
He reaches for her hand.
She crosses her arms.
"I'm sorry Cat noir. I can't. I just can't."
He frowns.
"Why not? Because we're superheroes?"
She shakes her head.
"No! No of course not. You're my friend, kitty. It's just that there's already someone. "
"Oh."
Cat noir blinks.
"That's okay. I just wanted you to know, Really."
"I'm really sorry."
"I know."
They sat in silence.
"Hey, want to know how you can make it up to me?"
Lady bug laughs.
"How?"
"Tell me about this supposedly better man."
Lady bug laughs.
"Never in a billion years, kitty cat."
"Oh come on! If I can't be with you and make you happy, I at least want to know that the guy is worthy, Right?"
Lady bug rolls her eyes.
"Trust me, he's more than worthy."
"Then tell me about Him. I won't say anything, cross my tail and hope to die!"
He says, his hands up.
Lady bug laughs.
"Fine. But I'm not telling you his name!"
"Fine by me."
Cat noir waits patiently for lady bug to speak. He looks at her encouragingly.
Lady bug sighs.
"Well, he's great. He's blond, with green eyes-"
"Sounds like someone we know."
Cat noir winks.
"Will you let me finish?"
Lady bug snaps.
"Yes sorry."
"Alright. Good. He has a super nice smile. He's my friend. I've liked him forever, but I can't seem to tell him. I tried to earlier today but it didn't end well."
Cat noir freezes.
"What do you mean?"
"This girl ended up ruining it. She said it in a horrible way. I'm not sure I can show my face after what happened."
Cat noir gulps. Wait. What?
"Tell me more about him. What does he do?"
"He.." lady bug tries to think of something that won't give away her identity, even though she is ignorant to the fact that it's too late.
"He models. His family is in the fashion industry."
Cat noir jumps.
"What?!"
Lady bug lifts an eyebrow.
"Something wrong?"
She's in love with me! Me, Adrien! What??? His thoughts scream inside his head. Can I tell her? No, she won't believe me. Better show her.
"Can I show you something?"
Lady bug looks at him doubtfully.
"Sure I guess."
And with one word, he transforms.
"No!" Lady bug Sheila's her eyes.
"Cat noir! We agreed, no revealing identities!"
Adrien stands there now. He gently peels off Lady bug's hands from her eyes. They remain closed.
"Look at me."
He whispers.
"No. Put your suit back on."
"Look at me, Marinette."
She gasps. How does he know..?
She opens her eyes, and to her very wonderment, Adrien Agreste stands before her very eyes, his kwami on his shoulder.
"Adrien?"
"Marinette?"
Lady bug looks around and transforms.
"I-I don't understand."
She looks at him in wonder. He returns the very same look.
"All this time," he whispers. "You were right behind me. I had no idea."
Marinette scoffs.
"If I had known, I would have squealed knowing you flirt with me every day. That I see you every day, that you-"
She pauses.
"You save my life. You've saved it, over and over and I've never even thought twice about it. I can't believe-"
Adrien holds up his hand and approaches.
"May I?"
"What?"
And with this, he kisses her.
And she faints.
