Raphael Santiago

*Reader's POV*

I was on my way to New York. My new home, I hope. I looked out the window of the taxi to see the sun coming up, it's rays illuminating the skyscrapers of the distant city. As we neared the outskirts of the city, I felt my throat dry and burn slightly. I grabbed my thermal mug out of my bag and had a drink, the blood sliding down my throat.

Oh yeah, I'm a vampire. A daylighter to be specific, meaning I can walk in sunlight. I'm also from London, people would think I'm fancy and have an accent. Yes, I have an accent but I'm not as fancy as I used to be when I first became a vampire back in the 1900s.

The cab pulled in front of an apartment complex where I was renting my apartment. I paid the cab driver, grabbed my suitcase and head up to my apartment. Once I got there, I started unpacking my clothes and chose an outfit for tonight. As tonight I was hitting the club, Pandemonium, in search of a certain Vampire.

It was night now, the moon smiling down to the city below as I entered the club. Pounding music vibrated through the flor, and bodies swayed to the beat around the room. As I scanned the room, my eyes landed on a certain guy. A vampire by the name of Raphael Santiago.

There were vampires around him, as I saw his eyes slide to me. A smirk finding its way to his face. I held his stare, not daring to be intimidated, even as he stood up from his seat and sped over to me.

"Raphael Santiago, and what might be your name?"

"Y/n Y/l, a pleasure to meet you."

I gently stuck out my hande, but to my surprise, he brought it up to his lips and placed a kiss on the back of my hand. He sure is a flirt.

"Now what is a beautiful vampire, such as yourself doing all alone."

"Looking for you."

"Me? Now, why would that be?"

"Is there somewhere we can talk more privately."

"Of course."

He turned around and headed for a room near the back as I followed him. Once we got in the room he closed the door and we both took a seat at the small table in the centre. 

"So, Y/N. What is it you would like to talk about."

"I was hoping you could offer me a place to stay?"

"Now, why should I do that?"

"Out of the kindness of your heart. Or, maybe that I can beat up all the vampires in this club and that I'm the only one that can walk in daylight."

"You're a daylighter?"

"Yes, I am."

"Amazing. OK, I think might have a position for you."

"And what would that entail?"

"Being my second in command."

"Just like that. You've only just met me, and you're giving me such a high position."

"Yes, well. You're the only one with this gift, and I find you more trustworthy than most of the vampires at the hotel. So, do we have a deal?"

"Yeah, we have a deal."

*3 years later. In the cell in hell*

"Look at poor Y/N. Your little vampire boyfriend isn't here to save you this time is he."

 I was currently chained to a wall in a cell in hell, I was helping some friends go after the guy in front of me. Sebastian Morgenstern. We had split up; Jace, Clary, Izzy, Alec and I. I knew Seb was keeping Magnus, Luke and Raphael captive. Obviously, I had to come to save Raphael but Seb got to me first. 

"Let me go before you regret it," I growled.

"Tut tut tut, Y/N. You need to watch that pretty mouth of yours before it gets you into trouble."

"Where is he?"

"Who?"

"Where is Raphael."

"OH, him. I can't tell you. But I can take you to him."

Sebastian walked over to me and unchained my wrist. Before I could attack him, he chained them again behind me back and forced me to walk in front of him. We moved our way down many hallways and passages. 

Finally, we reached a vell, Sebastian opened the door and inside the cell was Magnus, Luke and Raphael. 

"Y/N?!"

Then, I felt pain. I looked down to see a wooden stake producing from my chest. Right, where my heart is. My knees buckled and before I could hit the floor Raphael caught me in his arms and sank to the floor on his knees.

"R...Raph?"

"Hey, it's going to be OK. OK? You're going to be fine, you just have to keep those beautiful eyes of yours open for me baby-girl OK?"

"I...It hurts Raph."

"I know, but you.re going to be OK. Right, Magnus?"

I watched Raph look pleadingly at Magnus, his expression told it all. Nothing was going to save me. Raph turned back to me, with tears spilling from his eyes.

"S...stop crying."

"I don't want to lose you Y/N."

"I...I'll always be here with you. Forever."

"You can't leave me. Not now, not ever."

I started coughing violently and I knew my time was nearly over.

"I...I love you, Raphael."

"I love you too Y/N."

I felt my breath slowing, so I closed my eyes and let the darkness consume me. The last thing I heard was Pah whisper' I love you'.
