Sun POV

I hated dressing fancy. As I have said many times in the past I am not exactly a suit and tie kind of guy, but Kali bought the new suit just for me so I just wanted to humor her. Also it was apparently a very fancy dance that we were going to so it would look really weird if I didn't have a suit. I guess I could put up with it for just one night. It was still really annoying. However, all that annoyance faded away when I saw Blake. She looked absolutely stunning. I mean, I had liked her outfit at the Beacon dance but this was something else. She was wearing a black dress that went down to her knees. It glimmered and winked every time she moved. It almost looked like it was woven with stars. She wore 2 black bands on her wrists and purple-black high heels. Her beautiful black hair streamed out behind her, shining as the moonlight caught it. She even wore earrings. Two black stones set into a silver diamond shape. I didn't realize that I had been staring, open-mouthed at Blake until she turned to me and giggled behind her hand.

"What's the matter Sun?" She asked. I snapped out of my trance and shut my mouth quickly.

"Uh...nothing. Let's get going, shall we." She nodded and I offered her my arm. We both knew what it meant and grinned at the memory. And that was the way we walked, arm-in-arm, towards what I had no idea would be one of the most eventful nights of my life.

Blake POV

When we've arrived at the mansion where the dance was being held, I heard Sun catch his breath. Even I was impressed. The place was huge. There was an intimidating guard standing in front of the door admitting people. He had wolf ears and a fluffy tail and his face was hard and lined. He looked over at us as we walked up.

"Names." He asked, sounding bored.

"Blake Belladona and Sun Wukong." I told him. He looked down his list and nodded.

"Head on in." He said. We walked in and this time we both caught our breath. The ball room was enormous and it was filled with people. There was that very high-class music playing in the background that people were dancing too. Sun had told me at the Beacon Dance that he hated that kind of music. I looked up at him to see his face wrinkled in disgust.

"Are you ok?" I asked him. He shook his head.

"It's so fancy I want to be sick." He said. I laughed but understood what he meant. This was not his element. He was surrounded by a bunch of high-class people, Sun came from Vacuo, that was about as far from high-class as you could get. I wanted to distract him, we were here to have a good time. Suddenly, a new song began, I recognized this one. Without thinking, I grabbed his hand and pulled him out onto the dance floor. Then I payed his hands on my waist and draped my arms over his shoulders. He looked down at me in surprise. I smiled at him, trying to use the smile mom always used to calm dad down when he was in a mood. It seemed to work pretty well. The disgust slid off his face and he smiled back at me.

"Don't think about the surroundings," I told him, "think about what a good time we're having, just the two of us." He nodded, calming down. I let out a small sigh of relief, I really wanted us both to have a good time tonight.

Sun POV

We danced for a while. It was nice to do this again with Blake. We chatted as we continued dance. We talked and laughed together, sharing stories about our lives and speculating about our future. Blake was probably the most graceful dancers I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Her moves are fluid and sure, she not only not afraid on the battlefield but also on the dance floor. It's one of the things I admire about her the most. After we had danced for a few songs, we both decided to take a break. We were having a pretty good time at this point so we sat down together and we continued to chat with each other. I was telling her a story of how Neptune became afraid of water.

"...so then I wrapped my tail around the trunk of a tree and used my clones to help pull him away from the waterfall. He hasn't even stepped in a puddle since." Blake was bent over double laughing.

"You guys are a couple of idiots." She said, still laughing. I laughed too.

"Yeah. Neptune wasn't really a fan of water in the first place but that incident was too much." Blake and I continued to laugh for a bit. Finally, we stopped and sat in silence for a bit. In fact, it was starting to get a little  awkward. Suddenly, Blake looked up at me.

"Sun."

"What?"

"Are...are you...having fun?" She asked. I smiled at her.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" I said. She was looking sad now.

"I just want us both to have a good time." Now she was looking at the point of tears. Without thinking I wrapped one arm around her shoulders and hugged her.

"Hey, what's the matter?" I asked. She sniffed.

"I've just been trying so hard to forget, but I can't and I...I...I wanted to tonight to..." Her words trailed off, but she didn't need to finish. I knew. The Fall of Beacon. It had been horrible, I could see why Blake wanted to forget. It finally made sense why she had agreed to this, why she wanted both of us to have a good time. She wanted to forget it. And now she was really crying. Now I wrapped both my arms around her and hugged her close. I let her cry, she needed to. Then, gently but forcefully, I lifted her up and walked her out of the mansion.

"Come on," I said as we walked together, "let's go home."
