Sun POV

Well...Blake's dad most certainly didn't like me. I have to admit, the things I said to him really didn't help the situation anymore. But, her mom seemed kind enough. At least she let me stay in the guest room and I there I had the best sleep I had had in weeks. I then spent the next day getting acclimated to my new surroundings. Kuo Kuana was very quaint and while it was a constant reminder of the Faunus place in society, it was still a very beautiful place. I had felt quite at home as soon as he arrived there yesterday. Blake gave me a tour, she was so sweet sometimes. Seriously she took the time out of her day that she could have been spending with her family, for me! That made me feel good. At least she wasn't ignoring me like she had done on the ship. As we toured around Menagerie, I was awestruck by this amazing island. It was probably one of the beautiful things I had ever seen, except Blake of course. Speaking of which, she looked great. She had tied long, black hair back in a pony tail and was wearing a pair of black shorts and a black T-shirt. Half the time I could barely keep my eyes of her. I think she noticed a couple times but I managed to play it off, at least I hoped. We ate at a restaurant for lunch. Overall I think it was one of the best times I had ever spent with Blake. We concluded our tour at about 8:00 and went back to Blake's house for dinner.  Now, I've eaten some good food in my life but Blake's mom's cooking was something else. I probably went through about 4 helpings of her chicken and noodle soup, that stuff was delicious. Of course, Blake and Kali both thought it was hilarious and I couldn't but join in laughing with them. Even Ghira, who usually spent most of the time we were in the same room glaring at me, was smiling. I almost felt like I was a part of the family. I didn't ever want to leave Menagerie, it had become more of a home to me than Vacuo, even.

After dinner that night, I got a visit. I was laying on my bed, trying to fall asleep after the fine dinner I had just eaten, when I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in." Kali opened the door and smiled at me.

"Hello Sun, sorry to interrupt but can I come in? I need to talk to you."

"Sure." I nodded and sat up. She came in and sat down on the bed next to me.

"What did you want to talk about?" I asked. She frowned.

"Well...It's hard to know where to begin." She paused, thinking, "Well, firstly I want to thank you for taking such good care of my daughter." I laughed.

"Trust me Kali," I said, "Blake can take care of herself most of the time." Kali smiled and nodded.

"I know that but she has a very bad habit of running away from what's good for her. I want to thank you for not letting her come alone."

"Well it's not like I would just leave her, we're friends right?" Kali smiled at me again.

"You're a good kid Sun, I am glad that Blake has a friend like you." That made me flush.

"Really Kali, it was nothing. I like being around Blake. She can be a bit frustrating at times but she is a good person, I couldn't just abandon her." I said.

"And what about your other friends that Blake told me about?" Kali asked, raising her eyebrow.

"I...we...I just..." I spluttered. I hadn't been prepared for the question. Kali laughed and laid a hand on my shoulder.

"I get it Sun, I know how you feel about her."

"Huh?" I said, confused. She giggled.

"Wow, neither have you have realized it yet, this is just precious." Suddenly I realized what she was talking about, my face went bright red.

"No, no, no, it's not like that." I said, hastily. She just laughed and shook her head.

"Anyway, that is a pretty good segue into the thing I really wanted to talk to you about. Ghira and I were invited to a dance this Saturday, but we don't want to go. So I managed to convince Ghira that you and Blake should go." That made several memories come back about the Beacon Dance. I had gone with Blake and we had had a great time.

"Sure." I said, but Kali wasn't finished yet.

"Also, I want you to ask her."

"Wait, what?" She nodded.

"I want you to ask her." I stared at her in amazement. She was actually telling me to ask her daughter out.

"I...um...ok." She ruffled my hair, just like she was my mother. She got up and began to leave. She stopped in the doorway and turned to look at him, then she winked.

"You two have fun Saturday." I could only smile and nod. With one last smile, Kali turned and closed the door behind her. I lay back and sighed. She really thought I liked Blake. She was crazy, no doubt about, but the Beacon Dance had been fun, maybe it would be even better this time.

Blake POV

When I heard the knock on my I never thought that it would be Sun walking through the door. I would also never have expected the proposition he had for me.

"What do you mean a dance?" Sun scratched the back of his head, his face was slightly flushed.

"Well...I talked to your mom and she that she and your dad had been invited to a dance but they didn't want to go. So they us two should go instead." He said, sheepishly.

"And why didn't mom tell me this herself?" I asked.

"Because she wanted me to ask you." Goddamit mom, why did she always have to try and play matchmaker. But I remembered the Beacon Dance and what a good time I had had with Sun and Neptune. And it wasn't really that weird to go alone with Sun, we could just go as friends.

"Sure." I said, smiling, "Sounds like fun." Sun gave me a big, double thumbs-up and a smile. As he left my room I called after him.

"Sun." He turned and looked at me, "You're going to have to get fancy." He groaned.

"Alright fine." He said, huffily. I laughed as he left the room. Then I leaned back and thought about what I had agreed to. I really hoped it would be as fun as the Beacon Dance and not a complete disaster.
