We hurdled in a circle behind Ethan's car that was tipped over and began to make our plan of escape, the gun shots seemed to die down.
"So you guys see that big batch of grass by the stop sign?" Dwy said, everyone nodded. "I think half of us should go there..." she pointed off to the wheat field near the stop sign. "then the rest of us go there. Just so there's not a big group of people in a small space." Everyone nodded, it was smart.
I cleared my throat. "I think we should sneak down the wheat field then when we're farther down the field near those trees-" I pointed to a big group of trees maybe half a mile or a mile away. "And from there we would press the emergency button. Because if we do at that stop sign, we're pretty close and the cars would probably get shot down again." Everyone nodded again, seems they agree with everything.
"Any thoughts?" Ethan asked. Elijah mumbled a couple words then cleared his throat and sniffed.

"Yea uh, what if they see us In the fields?" David held up the gun and Elijah snickered quietly.
"What if the button doesn't work when we get there?" Kass asked, Ethan made a face that said "Well hell I didn't think of that".
"Then we just keep going. No point in turning back, this shit seems to go on forever." I said, everyone laughed.
"Well where would we go?" Bea asked.
"Uhhhhh I don't know, a rabbit hole?" Everyone snickered at that.  "Maybe we'll meet Bugs Bunny in there and the hunter will come for him and help us." I joked. Everyone laughed louder. I put a finger up to my lips laughing, but telling them to stay quiet.
"So its a plan." Ethan smiled. Everyone looked at each other In fear and nodded.

"So Kass, Bea, Dwy and I should go together...then Elijah, Emma, David, and Brendon go together. Brendon and David you can help Elijah to the fields." Ethan said. "Those cars should cover half the trip to the fields and the stop sign. Then after it's just being lucky." Everyone looked down.
"If somebody stops moving, what do we do?" Dwy asked, everyone turned to her.
"We help them. We're not going leave anyone behind. Just pull them in the tall grass and go." Ethan stood up. "Who's ready?" Everyone stood also, looking frightened. "We'll be ok." He grabbed Kass's hand and the rest of them walked to their spot. David and Brendon helped Elijah up and we snuck over into the fields.

"Guys, leave me here." Elijah said from the ground. I turned.
"Elijah, were not going to leave you here. What if they come over?"
"Then I'll just die, I'm already in so much pain."  I shook my head.
"Don't say that."
"It's true."
"If you die it's like a part me dies too." I laughed a little bit. "Sorry that was corny." He smiled.
"I'll just slow you guys."
"We need you man." Brendon told him.
"He has a point." David said. Brendon and I looked at him.
"He will slow US down, not you Emma. We have to carry him, I say we leave him here like he says. We can't run and carry him, he weighs around 150." Brendon nodded his head after a silence, I agreed also.
"Alright," I knelt down to Elijah and grabbed his hand. "don't move, stay here, we'll be back soon with police." I kissed him on the cheek then stood up.
"Good luck." He said with a smile.
"Same too you." We ran off towards the trees with the sounds of gun shots.

"Keep going!" David said slowing down. "I need a breath!" Brendon slowed down also. I kept running, I guess doing cross country paid off.
"Don't stop, just slow down a little bit." I said pulling his hand. I looked back, they were still looking for us. I looked ahead, Ethan and the others were still running. "David please we can't stop!" He looked at me, then he pulled my arm as he started running again. How did they even see us? They were still fighting in the fields.
"I hope Elijah's ok." Brendon said beside me.
"Me too."

"Guys over here!" Bea loudly whispered to us from a big group of trees. We ran over to them, everyone was out of breath.
"Where did they go?" I hear one of the people say. You could hear their feet crunching leaves and sticks, they came closer. David grabbed Beas hand, Ethan grabbed Kass's, and Brendon grabbed Dwy. I started to smile, they all did it at the same time. If only Elijah was here.

"Come out!"
"Rob I don't think their here."
"Their probably just hiding. What, are you scared Luke?"
"No I'm just saying they probably ran off more."
"Shut it Luke."
"You shut it Ken."
"Oh why don't you both shut the hell up?!" Their was a sound of a shove. "Let's keep moving. And don't argue, im the boss." They walked off and the mumble of fighting kept going.

We kept running, we ran past the trees, now we're in a wide clear field.
"Faster, theres a house!" I yelled. Everyone was sprinting, the house was only 200 meters away.

We reached the house. Dwy banged on the door. We all yelled. An old lady opened the door terrified with her husband having a rifle in his hands. He lowered it.
"We need help our friend is injured and we need police." I started crying, I couldn't bear to think that Elijah isn't there anymore. "Please!" The man looked to his wife, she stared at us, and he nodded.
"Come in, hurry." The man said.
