"What happened out there?" The man said. His wife stood behind him, she really was frightened.
"My friend and I got kidnapped, then they rescued us," I looked at everyone. "We got In a crash and then there was shooting In the fields." The man turned to his wife and started signing to her...she's deaf. "Can I say something?" I asked the man after he seemed finished. He nodded and signed to the woman. I signed "don't be frightened, we're good people." She smiled and nodded.
"Um," David said. "What did you just say?"
"I said, don't be frightened, we're good people." Everyone nodded.
"How do you know ASL?"
"I took ASL all through high school, then I took some more classes after."
"Well, I'll just call the police. I'll be back." The man walked to the kitchen and I heard him talking. I looked Into the living room, they had their Christmas tree up.
"Nice Christmas tree." I signed to the wife. She signed back, "thank you, my name Carol." "My name Emma." She pointed to the Christmas tree, "only 2 weeks." I did a cheeky smile. I forgot all of us were supposed to fly to our hometown for Christmas early this Friday, in 3 days. I signed excuse me and turned to everyone.
"Guys, I forgot we're supposed to fly home for Christmas In 3 days. They're probably worried sick."
"Well make it." Bea said with a smile.

"The police will be at the scene in 10, then some more will come here in 15." They led us out into the living room.
"How long were you guys out there for?" He asked.
"Maybe a couple hours." Brendon said from the couch. I couldn't think straight. all I was thinking about was if Elijah was alive or not. They ran right by where he was. I could go help him, but Carol and her husband wouldn't let me, and it's dangerous.
"Emma?" Dwy said shaking my shoulder. "What wrong? You seemed zoned out for a minute there." I looked at her and tears formed in my eyes, I hurried and looked away, I seemed so weak for crying.
"Honey are you ok? Are you hurt?" The husband asked.
"I just want to be left alone." I smiled to calm him. "Where's the restroom?"
"Upstairs to the left." I got up and made my way up the stairs. I stopped at the top of the stairs I hear Brandon say something.
"We had to leave her boyfriend behind at the crash sight. He was shot and we couldn't carry him."
"Pretty hard on her huh."
"Yeah."
"How long they been together?"
"3 years."
"Poor girl." I slammed the bathroom door and stayed in there until the police came to the house. As soon as they put us In the car, one of the officers started talking.

"So we found a boy, maybe around 20, you know him?" Dwy nudged me with her elbow after I didn't answer for a while.
"Yeah, that's Elijah Best."
"Ok. Whats his relation to you?"
"Boyfriend. And to her, he's her friend."
"Ok. Stay in here." The officer opened the door and nodded to the other officer to follow. Outside the car they started talking and pointing to different areas.
"He was found Emma. It's ok now." Bea said from my left. I nodded and stared at the seat.
"I just want to go home. I can't believe this happened again. Last time was horrible enough."
"Forget about it, just like what you said last year." Dwy said.
"Now that I've tried, it's hard." She smiled.
"Atleast you tried."
"Yea, I guess so."
