Avery's POV
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. I got the wind knocked out of me when I fell to the bathroom floor.
After they had beaten me up, they left me here. On the ground, with blood on my face and my arms. Leslie, Veronica, and Clarice. The popular girls. The Plastics. Brats.
Come on Avery, keep going! Don't let them get to you.
I got up and sighed as I looked in the mirror.
"Why? Why! Why! Why!" I smashed my fist into the mirror, shattering it to pieces.
"Damn it!" My hand started bleeding but I could care less. I ran cold water from the tap over the open wound and hissed in pain.
I pull out my phone and texted Michelle.
"Hey, could you pick me up?" I waited for a reply but none came. Gee, thanks. I rolled my eyes and made my way back to hell, I mean home. Cough, cough. Whoops.
Then again, what's the difference?
After a ten-minute walk, I was 'home'. I walked in and I was immediately attacked.
"Where the hell have you been?!" My dad shouted at me. Oh, you know, on the bathroom floor trying to get my breathing in check.
"I was at the library club, we had a meeting." I lied shrugging.
"HA, NERD!" Isabella, my old sister by two years yelled out. I thought you'd actually be mature, but, oh well.
"Shut it!" I yelled back. "I'm going, upstairs dad." I was making my way upstairs but I felt my hair roughly pulled back and I hissed in pain. What the hell?!
"Don't walk away from me! You worthless, useless brat!" He yelled at me. Oh, I'm shaking in my boots.
"S-Sorry dad. May I go upstairs, please?" I said pretending to be scared and apologetic.
He nodded. "Worthless waste of space."
He let go of my hair, I walked upstairs trying to hold back the tears. It didn't hurt, the hair I mean.
You know what they say, 'Words cut deeper than knives.' Breathe. You're okay. Its okay. Everything will be okay!
Will it though? I don't know.
I walked into Ma's room to see her sleeping. I leaned down to place a kiss on her cheek. I whispered in her ear. "I'll be back soon Ma. Stay safe, I love you." Then walked out of her room to Rebecca's - my younger sister's room.
"Hey Ri, I'll be gone for a while. Don't say anything to them alright?" She nodded.
"Where are you going Av?" She asks me. I didn't reply, just shook my head indicating this conversation was over. I rushed to pack my things, shoving them all into my backpack.
"I'll be back, I love you Ri." I kissed her forehead. She swatted away my hands and wiped her forehead,
"EWWWW!" I laughed and ruffled up her hair.
"Bye, I love you!" I yelled as I made my way downstairs.
"I love you too." I heard her whisper. I smiled to myself as I made my way downstairs.
I look around to see my dad passed out on the couch and my older sister on her computer with headphones in. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the front door. Idiots.
I walked the streets just thinking about my life.
Some have it worse, who are you to complain about your life?
That's true. I kept walking, walking, and walking. I don't know where I was... but that didn't matter.
At least I'm away from them.
A/N
Hey ya'll, hope you enjoy. I'll be updating whenever I can. There's a lot going on in my family right now that I have to focus on, so I apologize if I don't update.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a DM. I'll answer right away, well, I'll try at least.
I now have a cover!!!
Personally, I often hate when people put in who they imagine the characters to be because it ruins it, for me at least. But, I'm going to be a complete hypocrite and do it anyway. The only character who I imagined would look like is Xavier Steel (book character) as Stephen James. Search him up, he's hotter than the sun!
Love ya'll *blows a kiss* This is Allison Dean, signing off.
