Repentance ? Redemption!

Sin - an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.

But what is Divine Law? Are they the laws set by the Lord himself  that govern all entities in the known and unknown universe , earthly and otherwise , sentient and otherwise ?

If so , then their transgression must mean defying the will of thy Great Heavenly Father , disrespecting his ways n creations ? what shall be the fate of such a being who dares to challenge the Divine Order?

Punishment , one might say . But is punishment the only fate of  someone who disrespects the ways and creations of God?

I don't think that peril and punishment are the only things in store for someone after committing a sin . If God does exist and he is the creator of this universe then I don't think he is vain enough to just chasten those who don't believe in his existence or don't worship him. He can't be cruel enough to condemn those who don't respect him and his creations and ways to eternal malady and misery . If he did , what would be the difference between him and the Devil?

Although literature in every form will have us believe that once you commit a sin , it taints your soul , marking you a wicked one. That one must wash away this stain through peril n repent for his actions in pain. From Dante descending the nine layers of inferno and then through the endless miles of the literal mountain of repentance "Mt. Purgatorio" all the while blinded ,surrounded in darkness by demons and furies , who mangled and agonized him all through those endless miles . To even the Bible which chronicles the tale of Lucifer , the Morning Star, god's most prized creation , committing the most vicious of the seven deadly sins . Consumed by pride and envy , he deemed himself more powerful than God and was thus banished from the skies forever. Doomed to suffer in the underworld as Satan. His scintillating golden halo dissipating and crimson atramentous horns bleeding out of his head, his pallid wings turning obsidian, all screaming of the crimes he did. From Goethe's masterpiece Faust, reciting the of a learned scholar who makes a deal with the Devil , consumed by greed and his lust for knowledge and power , he sells his soul to the Devil . Facing eternal damnation for leaving the path of God . To lastly Icarus , who dared to fly too close to the Sun. Trying to reach God's magnificence, his wax wings melting n encasing him , keeping him prisoner as he drowns to the depths of the ocean in front of his helpless father.

Yet even with eons of literature behind it , I still don't believe the idea that one who has sinned can only pay for his actions in agony.  Instead of repentance , there can be redemption. Those who have done wrong by someone can pay for it by doing right by someone else. The journey to redeem oneself must not always be painful , it can be a journey of self discovery and redemption. I believe that God too would prefer the less painful path for his creations and that punishment must not always be the fate of someone who has sinned.

" Forgive me Father for I have sinned, and I have sinned a lot."
