Chapter 6

The ball of light is now over head from us. I had my legs up to my chest feeling nervous about this. I thought I my self, is he good or bad? The buggy started to slow down. He started to go to this small mountain and then I saw a tunnel. He turned the buggys lights on so we could see. He went slow through the dark tunnel.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked he was silent for a while making me feel nervous.
"My home, and a better place for you."
"I thought my home was a better place?"
"It's not my home is better, you can be free with no rules and people to tell you want to do."
I did know what to respond to that last part. People telling me want to do. we did live under strict rules. What if I don't need those rules. I always wanted to know about everything.m

I looked up to see light at the end of the tunnel. Then light covers my body. I look around and we are surrounded by these walls. The ceiling were these soft light green things with brown looking sticks. He called them trees. Then there was a circle like opening that the light broke into. I look around to see these things that looked like the size of my room almost.

The buggy stopped and Daniel got out. I pulled on the strap I have over me. And it didn't come off letting me. Daniel walked around and reached over me. I heard a click sound and the strap was off. Daniel half his hand out I guess for me to grab. I took it and he helped me out.

"Welcome to crystal city." He had a smile. I looked around, these room like places were all different sizes and different colors. Like gray, brown, or bright colors in patterns.

I looked around more so see no one. He said there where more, but where?
"Didn't you say there were more of you?"
"Yeah I did but they must be out to work or they are in their huts."
"What are huts?" I asked. He placed a hand on my shoulder and made me look at the colorful bright patterns.
"Those are the huts. Don't worry you will get one and you can decorate it some more if you want. They are just your rooms. Here let me show you around."

He kept his hand on my shoulder while pointing to things telling me and explaining it to me.
"That over there is the library. Miss. Hunkelberry works there. She keep everything organized for us and we can read the books in there, but they are only books that we found."

"Found?" What does he mean found. Did they just take these and keep them.
"We go into the city, not this one, and find things that could help us, be useful, or for fun."
"City?"
"Yeah like, what's the word you use again... the tarnished?" My eyes widen in excitement. I have always wanted to know how the tarnished lived.
"A tarnished city. Take me with you." I grabbed his shoulders, surprising him.
"Wait hold up you don't know the basics in surviving. You have to wait on that until your ready."

"Oh...okay." I let of his shoulders a little sad about what he said, but this means I can learn on they way to go to the tarnished city. He showed me around more. And we came to this brown building with a sign that said cafeteria.

"That is the cafeteria. Its were we serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But if we want food we need to go hunting so some times we don't get a lot." I never learned the word hunting before.
"What does hunting mean."
"I'll teach you later it's how we get food." I always wanted to know where food did come from.

"Daniel!" I heard a voice behind us making me turn around. There was a little kid running up to us and hugged Daniel making him stubble a little.
"Hey Oscar!" Daniel hugged him back. The kid looked at me and gasped.

"Someone new!" He had blond hair and blue eyes. His clothes were a button up white shirt and had blue shorts, he also had a little white hat. He ran to me and I moved back making him stop. "Sorry if I scare you, my name is Oscar." He held out his hand. I looked at it confused of what he wanted.

"You shake his hand." Daniel took my hand and placed it into Oscars. Oscar then moved our hands up and down.
"This is how you greet people. It's a good way of saying hello. Mind telling me your name."

"Oscar she doesn't really have a name yet." Oscar let go of my hand.
"Oh sorry, well maybe you can give yourself a name." Give myself a name I thought. But what would it be. "Come on let's go meet the others." Oscar started to tug on my arm dragging me some where.

"Guys we have some one new!" He yelled. Daniel followed Oscar and me with a smile. How many are there, how would they treat me, will they like me.

I look up from Oscar too see a hundred of them. Colorful, different, happy. They all started to walk up to me. They all seem young like year 9 through year 20. They started to Crowed me and talking all at once. This girl walks up to me.

"You look all dirty, let's get you washed and you can make some friends when your done." She took my hand and dragged me out of the crowd.
