Matts POV: "I'm sorry but where are my parents?" I was seated at the front counter of the police stations holding cells. They told me I wasn't aloud to leave until my parents got here. "We are getting in contact with them now." He replied while writing down on a piece of paper and trying to talk on a phone at the same time. "Shouldn't they be here already, considering they bailed me out and all...?" I asked leaning in towards him. He looked at me and raised his eyebrows... then didn't reply. I leaned back in my seat and crossed my arms frustrated. Bailey had left in a very confused manner. She didn't know what to say or do, some men came and guided her out while I was being held here. Before she was forced to leave she hugged me and whispered in my ear that she'll meet me at school later on. Well, if I will even go to school. It is A LOT to take in. Bailey said she couldn't wait for me to get out so we can be together. But i can't be with her, I'm dangerous, I know a lot of bad people, and I can't pretend to be her boyfriend. Because I know I'm not good for her, she deserves better. All I have done in the past haunts me. If only she knew all the stuff I have done... She could never love the true me.
Sydney's POV: Being late on the first day is not the best way to start the year. I walked through the same doors as I have been walking through for the last few years. The hallway was empty except for a few people. I went to my locker and quickly grabbed my books. While putting them in my bag I noticed someone a few lockers away. "Ellie?" I questioned. Looking at someone's back. She turned around. "What." She was leaning against the locker and then slowly turned around. Her eyes were blood shot red and she had the darkest bags under them. "Ellie, are you okay?" I asked her softly. Suddenly she burst out laughing. "Do I look 'okay'?" She choked. I mumbled in reply. "Are you... Drunk?" I stepped in examining her face. "No!" She gasped. Ellie started to walk forwards then tripped on her feet and fell on me. I struggled to catch her, but then attempted to stand her up. Ellie resisted to stand so I dragged her into the nearest bathroom. "El, what happened to you?" I put her down, leaning her agents the wall. "Everything happened." She closed her eyes. "Look, I know we're not exactly friends right now. But honestly, your acting ridicules." I headed for the door to exit the bathroom. "Sydney! you did this to me." She said sounding extremely tired, as if she hadn't slept for a week. I stopped and turned back at her, "No, Ellie, you did this to yourself." I walked out of the bathroom. Why do I even bother? She can take care of herself.
Derek's POV: It's been 5 months since Henry was born and I haven't seen him since. He's been living with Anna and her parents, which is good, for Henry, but for me, it sucks. I'm hoping to see him soon after I talk to the principal about taking some time off. I am at the school now waiting for the principal to call me in. The plan is that I can take time off just to raise Henry for the first few months, I don't want him growing up with out a father and all. I would like to spend some time with my son, wouldn't any father? "Derek Fields?" The old mans voice called. I stood up and walked into his office, followed by my mother and father. "So, what's the situation?" He started, getting straight to the point. "Derek would like to take some time off school." My mother stated. The principle looked up at us as if we were insane. "I don't think you understand, mrs, but Derek can't just take time off." "Well why not?" I butted in. He turned his head to me in dismay. "It's not that easy." He replied calmly. I leaned in and looked at him seriously, "why not?" I folded my arms. "Well, I'm not sure your aware but you can't afford time off. Your grades are too low." Mr Arnold wore these geeky glasses that made him look like a nerdy teacher. "I don't care about how low my grades are, i care about raising my son." My mother coughed in a 'You shouldn't have said that' way. I rolled my eyes and continued to stare at Mr Arnold. "Seniors can't take time off, especially ones like you. You have to keep your grades up otherwise you can't graduate young man." Before I could say anything he continued. "These last few months could potentially be the most important of your life." He sternly looked at me then fixed his glasses. "We understand." My father said in a professional way, unlike me.
"No. No, you can't do that." I butted in, temper rising. "You can keep me away from my son!" I stood up in anger. "We are not trying to-" "Yes you are!" My face was boiling. I couldn't take it. "Son, breathe." My father commanded and stood up. I put my hands over my head in frustration. "Derek." My father walked over to me and pushed me out of the room, shutting the door behind him. "Look, it's only for a few months." He placed his hands on my shoulders, calming me down. He knew about my anger problems but he wasn't going to state the obviously. I was angry. "No! It's not! It's a whole year." "Think about it, if you keep your grades high then you will be able to take the rest of the year off." He looked at me sternly. "I'm not smart, and you know that." I ran my hand through my hair and closed my eyes. "It's only a few months." I breathed heavily, realising my father was right. "Only a few months, and then I'll see him again." I said aloud. "It's for the best." My father replied softly. I nodded and he let go. Only a few months. Right?
