A/N- underlined is Patrick texting, italics is Pete texting. I don't feel like writing both of their names a million times.
Trigger warning- suicide mentioned, mental disorder
Pete
Pete hated his disorder.
No, Pete hated himself.
He had yelled at Patrick.
Told him that he never wanted to see him again.
And instead of trying to reason with his brain to let go of the irrational anger, he stormed out and drove home.
And then the anger faded.
Pete realised what he had done.
Knew he could never fix it.
Pete hadn't told anyone about his disorder, to tell Patrick now would make it seem like he was making up excuses.
No.
Pete would fix it.
He would make all the problems he had go away.
So he couldn't hurt anyone again.
Ever.
Pete picked up his phone.
He was going to apologize first.
I'm sorry, Patrick.
But don't worry, I'm going to fix it.
I'll never hurt anyone again.
What do you mean, Pete?
I'm going to solve the problem.
Tell me what you mean! Please!
Goodbye, Patrick
Pete put his phone down.
It buzzed.
He ignored it.
Pete stood up.
He went to his kitchen cupboard and started looking around.
Trying to find a medicine that would be lethal if he took too much.
Finally.
At the back of the cupboard.
Lexipro.
Now sitting on his bed, the door locked.
Pete studied the bottle.
Trying to find out how much he needed to take for the problems to end.
Someone banged on the door.
"Let me in Pete!" Patrick called.
"I'm going to solve the problems!" Pete called back.
"Pete, open this door or I will kick it in." Patrick is mad.
He has every right to be, Pete thinks.
"Pete." Patrick says again, urgently.
Pete opens the door.
Patrick stands in the doorway, tears streaming down his face.
His eyes travel from Pete's face to the pill bottle still in his hand.
Patrick engulfs Pete in a hug.
Pete is confused.
"Aren't you mad?" Pete asks
"No" Patrick says, his reply muffled by Pete's neck.
"Patrick," Pete says carefully
"Yes?"
"I have bipolar disorder."
"I know. I have for a while. Your violent mood swings, when you went to the doctor but wouldn't tell my why and came home almost in tears... I put two and two together."
Pete was relieved that he didn't seem like he was making up excuses.
He was so glad that Patrick wasn't mad, even though he had every right to be.
"Why aren't you mad?"
"Because I love you."
