"You were around 15 at this time, correct?"

I nodded.

"And what happened next?"

"We were about to start secondary school when she told me she had to go back to her hometown of Bergen. Her parents had finally settled their divorce and her father didn't like the thought of her taking her education in Korea, so far away from him. Her mother was against the move but didn't dare to disagree with her old husband, in case he would take them to court."

She wrote something on her notepad and looked up.

"How did the news affect you?"

I looked down at my hands to distract myself from looking her in the eyes.

"I was broken. I felt like my world was breaking apart. I couldn't imagine my life without her, how pathetic that may or may not sound. Hah, she wasn't even my girlfriend. Barely even my friend during this time."

__________

The thought of no longer seeing her each day made me feel a lot of things, mainly negative. I had other friends and would surely make new ones at my new school, but they meant nothing to me compared to her.

A few weeks after the lake incident, she got together with Taehyung. They were officially a couple. My chest hurt when she told me the news, but I kept on my smile for her. She was all over the place, her smile never faltered even the slightest that day.

I couldn't believe that this wonderful girl now had someone else.

She began spending her lunch breaks with Taehyung. On rare occasions, she would be sat with me at our usual table and tell me about how wonderful her boyfriend was. I quickly got tired of it, but I kept listening to every word she said. Her voice was like pure silk, so soft and delicate and just as addicting as sweet chocolate. It was like heaven for my ears.

She still gave me some food during our lunch break though. It became less and less common, but it still happened, even if she had to spend the break with 'Tae-tae'. She'd hand me my sandwich while Taehyung stood in the door to our classroom with a smirk, impatiently tapping his feet on the floor.

Either I pushed her away or she just got more distant; I'm honestly unsure about this. What I do know is that we hardly spoke by the end of the school year.

The last day of school was a memorable day. We did nothing but say goodbye to our teachers and other students from either our year or the younger pupils. I had noticed that Susan seemed different that day, but I saw no reason to ask her.

If she no longer cared about me, why should I?

__________

The festivities were officially over and everyone was on their way home. Some got picked up by their parents, some had to take the bus and some were simply left on their own to rumble through the empty halls.

Like me.

When I was ready to go home, I realised I had forgotten some books in our old classroom, so I went back up the stairs to get it.

The long corridors felt haunted when they were so empty, not a soul to be seen. I gulped but kept on going.

I looked frantically for the door to classroom A32, which was nearing me.

I never managed to get my books back because before I could do anything, a hand grasped the back of my shirt and I got stuffed into the janitors closet.

My back collided with some boxes and a broom ending up hitting my head.

"Hey!" I said. "What was that for?"

The person turned on the lights and my mouth stood agape at the sight.

Susan's usually cheerful eyes were filled with sorrow and her eyes were red and swollen.

"Susan?" I whispered as I got up. "Are you okay?"

She tugged at the end of her shirt and kept her head down.

"Please, tell me what's wrong." I pleaded.

Her teary eyes met mine and my expression mirrored hers.

"I'm moving Namjoon."

I was shocked.

"Well-well, we can still meet up, trains were invented for a reason-"

"No, Namjoon," she started. Her eyes clutched together and small drops of water escaped them. "I'm moving back to Norway and I don't think I'm going back."

My world stopped for a moment. This couldn't be happening.

This shouldn't be happening.

"Does Taehyung know about it?" I asked.

She dried her tears away with her hand and nodded.

"How did he react?"

She began tearing up again.

"In the worst way possible," she said.

"He shrugged it off. He didn't even care."

The next thing that happened shocked me.

She kissed me.
