"I'm guessing that you two got closer to each other?"

"Yes."

She stared at me and waited for me to continue and explain my answer.

"We talked a lot and ended up talking outside of school too, which was a new concept to me. We went to the movies, we went to the fair, we rode on our bikes in the summer and made snowmen in the winter. We did all sorts of things together and this was around when I realised how much I had fallen for her."

"Did you tell her your feelings for her?"

I shook my head.

"No, goodness no! I didn't have the guts to tell her, you know? She talked a lot to my friend Taehyung who was in a grade below us. She was completely head over heels for him and so was he for her. I couldn't ruin their potential relationship by telling her how I felt."

"You could, but I guess you decided not to."

__________

She was different but in an intriguing way. Her personality was bubbly and she always had a positive aura surrounding her. If anyone was the life of the early-teen parties, it would be her. She was confident in a way you rarely saw here.

It was hard not to fall for Susan and luckily for her, it was hard for her not to fall for someone either.

The day she met Taehyung was on a hot spring day. School had ended and she decided to tag along with me, Taehyung, Jimin and Hoseok to a trip to the lake by Hoseok's house. She knew none of them at the time, but that was no problem for Susan Nilsen. People were attracted to her like bees were to flowers. Her deep, blue eyes railed the three boys in as quickly as I had been two years ago and soon I was no longer the only one who was head over heels for her.

They couldn't take their eyes off her that afternoon but neither could I. The sun made her hair shine a bright, almost reddish shade and her eyes seemed brighter and happier than they used to. The golden hour made her skin glow and I had never seen a prettier sight before me.

But despite being at the young age of 15, she knew what she wanted in a man.

Jimin was too much of a flirt towards her and she felt that he was "too short" for her.

She couldn't take Hoseok seriously, so she thought neither could they take their relationship seriously.

But then there was Taehyung.

Taehyung, the tall guy with the broad shoulders.

Taehyung, with the perfect boxed smile.

Taehyung, with the best humour she had ever encountered.

They just clicked, she told me.

In her eyes, Taehyung was the perfect man, meanwhile I was just her close friend.

"Why is it so hot today?" Hoseok loudly exclaimed while laying down in the shade by the apple tree. He had gone inside when we arrived and had changed into a thin t-shirt and a pair of wide shorts, yet he was the one complaining about being too hot.

The other four of us were sat on the dock at the lake, our feet dangling over the edge. Jimin was the only one who couldn't touch the water. I always felt bad about him and his height.

"Maybe its just because Susan is here with us," Jimin chuckled and smirked.

She rolled her eyes.

"Haha, very funny."

"It's true though."

Her cheeks turned the shade of the apples that had fallen off the ground; a messy mix between a deep red and a bright pink.

"Don't scare her away Jimin," Taehyung said and laid his arm around her shoulders. Her eyes shot up and she laughed nervously. This was the first time I had seen her this flustered around someone else. I just stared at the two in front of me.

"Hey, guys!" Hoseok yelled. We all turned our heads towards the boy. "My mom has just come home and she bought some ice cream on the way. Come get some before it melts!" and with that, he was gone.

Jimin was gone faster than you could imagine, all the energy he had spared the whole day, was used to sprint the metres up to our friend's house.

Taehyung and Susan were still sat there, arms around her shoulder and now with her head rested on his chest.

I felt sick.

I awkwardly got up from the dock, using my hands as support so I wouldn't fall in.

Surprisingly, it wasn't me who fell in.

It was Susan.

My leg had hit her thigh, making her lose her balance.

I was surprised when she told me she wasn't mad at me, despite being drenched.

It was "refreshing" to be in the water, she told me.

At least I made her feel something.
