I woke up the next morning by the sound of my ringtone screeching in my ears, the volume was almost unbearable.
I rubbed my eyes slowly while a yawn crept out of my dry mouth. Mornings made me feel weak; my point being proven by the strain it was causing my arm to reach out for my phone so I could answer the call.
I quickly checked the caller ID and groaned when I saw it was Jessie, one of my best mates.
"You better have a damn good reason for why you're disturbing my beauty sleep!" I managed to murmur through another yawn.
"Are you actually saying that you've been asleep all this time?" Jessie questioned.
"Well done Sherlock, that's what mornings are for, you're getting better at logic!" my tone sounded rich with sarcasm.
"Dude, it's 2 in the evening.."
Wait, what?
I looked up at the clock hanging on the wall opposite me, rubbing my eyes to clear my blurred vision. It was then when I saw the number 2 being directly pointed at by the hour handle on the clock.
I could hear Jessie laughing down the phone, "don't worry man, we've all been there! But, listen, the reason I called is to remind you about tonight."
"How could I ever forget bro? I'll call you later."
"Okay, cool. Remember the fo-"
I hung up and threw my phone on my bed without waiting for a reply. I could easily connect the dots and finish off his sentence for him. Food. That's all the boy ever talks about. You have food? Jessie will be there.
I let out a long sigh and prepared myself to get out of bed.
It was a struggle, literally a fight; I battled my way out of my warm, man made cave and stunned my body with a shock of cold, almost paralysing me.
I jumped into a quick 5 minute shower which turned out to be longer than I had imagined because this time, the clock read half past 4; the boys should be coming soon.
I ran downstairs to set up some drinks and food and started up the X-Box; this was our usual Sunday tradition since 4 years ago; when we all first met.
The rhythmic knock on my door distracted my thoughts and I yanked the handle to reveal a laughing Carter and Jessie; followed minutes later by Jake and Cody.
I automatically felt comfortable by their presence; we can act our real selves around each other; they're my best mates, my brothers.
Each of them are so similar yet so different in so many ways.
We're all known as the 'flirts' of the school, but, Jessie takes the label to another dimension. He flirts with every living, breathing, walking girl. Basically, he flirts with everything with a pulse.
Jake's the 'sweet' one, he's the one that's not the jerk of the group, but, don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean he's completely nice; he's just toned down compared to the rest of us, but he still has his moments.
Cody Riley is the joker of the group; he never fails to make us all laugh and turn an awkward situation into something worth remembering.
What can I say about Carter? Carter's the one we all go to with our problems, he knows what to say and what to do. He's a clever guy, I'll give him that.
Other than some of our obvious personality differences, we're completely the same.
They're all good looking boys, which explains the piles of girls around us all the time.
