Whoopdeedoo, update number two (in the same day) (but I can't write that) (then it wouldn't rhyme). Vote right now if you are wearing SOCKS!

After the longest and quietest walk of my life, we reached the front. McGonagall went up on some steps and stood next to a stool with a hat on top. I squirmed with excitement.

The brim of the hat split open, and it sang a short song. I was too busy focusing on the fact that it could talk instead of listening to the song. It was soon over, and McGonagall cleared her throat importantly.

The professor unrolled some parchment. "Antony, Scott."

A lanky boy with short brown hair ran up to the stool and sat eagerly as Professor McGonagall set the hat on his head. There was a moment of silence and then -

          "RAVENCLAW!"

The blue table stood up and cheered as Scott ran over to their table. I tapped my foot impatiently, waiting for my turn.

          "Black, Sirius."

The room grew quiet except for some mutterings as Sirius walked up to the stool. He glanced at the Slytherin table nervously as the professor dropped the Sorting Hat on his head. After several seconds of nothing, the hat shouted -

          "GRYFFINDOR!"

There was a beat of silence, and then the Gryffindor table stood up and cheered. Why did they hesitate? Do they not want him? I don't blame them, I wouldn't want him either, that stupid bully.

Several more first years got sorted, and I recognized the preppy girl I had seen on the train get sorted into Gryffindor. The three other kids from Sirius's gang - the nicer kids and John - got sorted into Gryffindor also.

Good, all my enemies are in one place, I cackled evilly in my mind. Mark elbowed me, and I looked up to see Bertha trotting over the the stool. She sat down, and the Sorting Hat fell onto her head. She squeezed her eyes shut, and -

          "HUFFLEPUFF!"

The yellow table stood up and clapped as Bertha bounced over to them, a smile splitting her face. At least she got the house that she wanted! I thought excitedly.

          "Snape, Severus," McGonagall said.

The sullen-looking boy walked over to the stool. As soon as the hat touched his head, it cried -

          "SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table cheered loudly. As soon as they quieted down, the professor said, "Thompson, Samantha."

I slowly went up to the stool and sat down on it, feeling everyone's eyes on me. Professor McGonagall placed the hat on my head, and it slipped forward over my eyes. I pushed it back so I could see.

"Hm, another Thompson," a small voice mused in my ear. I stifled a yelp. "Your siblings were in Ravenclaw, but that's not the place for you. Hm... you would do well in several houses... any preferences?"

"Um, Hufflepuff?" I voiced quietly. "Or Slytherin."

The voice snickered in my ear. "You, a Hufflepuff? Not likely. But Slytherin... hm, I can see that... you would certainly grow there."

As long as I'm with one of my friends, I'm happy! I thought.

"But... I think that you would grow more if separated from your friends, eh?" the hat said to me.

          What?

          "GRYFFINDOR!"

My heart plummeted to the bottoms of my feet as the professor removed the hat and I walked to the red table as they stood and cheered. No! Not Gryffindor! Why?! I thought as my feet moved of their own accord.

As I advanced, I could see Sirius smirking at me. I sat next to the preppy girl and stuck my tongue out at him.

Another kid - Timothy, Gary - was sorted into Ravenclaw. Now it was just Mark left.

          "Vanity, Mark!"

The Slytherin table started muttering around Emma, who wore a proud smile as Mark sat on the stool. This time, the hat was silent for an entire two minutes before finally deciding on -

          "SLYTHERIN!"

I was happy for Mark, but we were all in different houses. And now - I had to deal with Sirius and John on my own.

Poor Sammy, having to be in the same house as Sirius and John! (Not like that was predictable at all...) If you thought this chapter was short, get ready for the next one, because it's uber short.
