Whoopdeedoo, random A/N here for no reason. :/ P.S. Vote right now if you are listening to MUSIC!

"Um, excuse me," someone said, tapping me on my shoulder.

I spun around, looking at the older girl who was awkwardly hanging out of her compartment. "Are you looking for a place to sit? There's room in here."

I sighed in relief. Thank goodness, there are some nice people. "Um, yeah," I muttered. "Thanks."

I entered her compartment, noticing the two other kids sitting in there. One, a brown-headed boy, was staring out the window, and the other, a short girl, was bouncing in her seat. I sat next to the excited girl as the older girl shut the compartment door, smiling at me. The train started to move.

"Are you a first year?" she asked kindly.

          I nodded wordlessly.

"Oh, that's great!" she smiled. "This is my lil' bro, Mark. He's a first year too," she told me as she shook the boy's shoulder in a side hug.

He frowned at her and pushed her away. "Stay away Em, you're going to ruin my image," he grumbled.

The older girl just rubbed his head in a noogie. "Aw, but I can't keep away from my adorable brother!" she cooed, trying to kiss him.

Mark freaked out, pummeling her with his fists. "Get off me Em! Don't touch me, ew!"

Em pinched his cheek before turning back to me. "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself to you. I'm Emma. Emma Vanity, fifth year. And this," she gestured to the girl next to me, "is... sorry hun, what was your name again?"

"My name is Bertha!" she proclaimed, stilling her bouncing for a moment. "Bertha Roiser!" She reminded me of a bouncy ball - happy, round, and always bouncing. She had frizzy brown hair and freckled cheeks. "I'm a first year, and I'm going to become the next Minister of Magic!"

Emma smiled at Bertha's enthusiasm. "Okay, Bertha."

"Don't be stupid," Mark told Bertha rudely. "A girl would never become the Minister of Magic!"

"Well, I would!" Bertha replied hotly.

"So, what's your name?" Emma asked me, ignoring the squabbling first years.

I fiddled with my fingers. "I'm Samantha. Uh, Thompson."

"Thompson? Oh!" Emma clapped her hands. "You must be related to Miranda Thompson. I think she's dating Johnny Goshawk this year."

"Johnny... Goshawk?" I asked, tilting my head.

Emma clapped her hands over her mouth and widened her eyes comically. "Should I not have said that? Oh man, Miranda's so going to hex me now!"

I giggled a little. "I'm glad that I could find nice people to sit with."
