My name is Luna. I have earned a scholarship to a new school called Band Academy. The thought of school scared me, especially if it was a new school. I had really bad social anxiety and my depression had gotten worse since my brother Alex died. I wanna find his murderer but no one will let me. It seems like no one cares about my brother. Just me.
Our family abused us. Alex was gonna run away and take me with him. He was done with our father yelling and hitting. It seemed like he always did it to me. Before Alex died it seemed like he treated me worse. Alex was going to college. I still had a few years. I was sixteen. He was eighteen.
But now he's dead. He's gone. It's just so hard. He was there for me. Now he's six feet deep in the soil below us.
My mother is shipping me off to a school in L.A. and I'm sorta scared. I don't know what it'll be like. I don't know if I will be able to make new friends. I barely had any here.
~weeks later~
I'm now in L.A. I'm still trying to adjust to the sudden change. Band Academy is sorta like a college. It has the campus and it has dorms for the students. I hope I don't have a roommate.
~~~~
I was wrong. I do have a roommate. She's kinda quiet and doesn't talk much. I sorta like that. It's quiet and I don't have to worry about conversing.
Of course it's a bit awkward. It's a little too quiet between me and her.
~~~~
I found out a couple of things about my roommate. She listens to bands like Seether, Ghost Town, Hollywood Undead, Butcher Babies and bands like that. Also, her name is Scarlett Flame. A pretty cool name.
She's opened up to me a bit. She told me a little about herself. I did the same. We compared our classes to see what we had together. Unfortunately we don't have any classes with me, but we did have the same lunch.
~The first day of school~
My first class was homeroom with Ronnie Radke. Yes. The Ronnie Radke.
I walked into the class and sat in the back as far away from people as possible. I took a book out of my backpack and began to read it.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by a small voice.
"Is anyone sitting here?" She asked. I looked up at the girl standing above me. She had long dark blue hair. I shook my head. She set down her bag and sat in the chair next to mine. She put in earbuds and listened to her music. I glanced over to find her listening to MCR.
I looked at the door to see more people flowing in. I found an old friend of mine. Sara.
"Luna! Oh my god! It's been so long! I've missed you. How's it going?" She said while hugging me.
"It's been going. I'm not really sure whether good or bad but it's been going. How's living in L.A.?" I asked. She seated herself in the seat in front of me.
"Oh, pretty good. I'm so glad I'm out of that hell hole. L.A. has been so great to live in and there's so many opportunities. I've always wanted to live here and here I am." She flashed a big smile at me. "How's Alex?"
That hit me hard. I felt myself falling apart. Thinking about him was hard. I looked down at the desk.
"Is there something wrong?" She asked. The smile faded from her face.
"Alex. He's, uh... Alex is dead."
She looked at me. "Really? He's dead? Oh, Luna. I'm so sorry. I'm so very sorry. If you don't mind, how? How did he die?"
"He was murdered. We still don't know who did it and I doubt we will." My voice began to shake. Fresh tears spilled from my eyes. I reached up and wiped them off.
"I'm so sorry, sweet heart. I'm so so sorry." She wrapped me up in a hug.
There was a boy. He sat next to Sara. He had dark hair and eyes. They seemed so mysterious.
"Jonathan, I didn't know you had Mr. Radke for homeroom. Why didn't you tell me?"
Jonathan shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't think to tell you. Is that a problem with that?"
"Yes. We're cousins. I wanna know your classes. Give me your schedule." Jonathan rolled his eyes as Sara looked over his schedule. "We only have homeroom, art and science together."
"Good," Jonathan said quickly snatching his schedule back.
Sara rolled her eyes. She turned back around to face me. "Anyways, Luna, this is Jonathan, my idiot cousin. Idiot cousin, this is my best friend, Luna."
"Hello, Luna. It's a pleasure to meet you," Jonathan said. He grabbed my hand and kissed it.
"Wow Jonathan. I didn't know you could go any further than that," Sara said rolling her eyes. Jonathan chuckled.
Ronnie Radke walked into the room and class started.
