~Harry's POV~

My palms got sweaty as I stood outside the door of Kaylee's room, holding flowers I'd bought at the place across the street. Lynn and Luke decided I would be staying with her first, but I was still kinda happy that I lost 'nose goes.'

The doctor and nurse walked out of her room.

"Okay, lovie, we're done. You can stay with her for a little while." The doctor muttered something as she walked by. "She'll love the flowers."

Yeah, right.

I nodded nervously and walked in. Kaylee was propped up on the hospital bed. Her eyes were glued to the TV.

"Um, these are f-for you..." I handed her the flowers. Why. Is it. Always the freaking stutter.

She looked at me and lightly smiled. "Thanks."

Even with no makeup and stitches she was beautiful. Why can't I have her? Yeah, why can't you, Harry? Bitch.

My self conscience is rude.

I examined Kaylee's face a little more, trying not to make it obvious.

~Kaylee's POV~

Well, this is awkward.

I smiled a little bit, but the more Harry stared at me, the more weird it became, so I just frowned.

"Hey, uh, can you...not?"

Harry snapped out of whatever trans he was in.

"Oh, sorry...you're just...really pretty." He looked down.

After the pain killers I had taken, I decided to be nice to Harry for a millisecond.

"Thank you."

"Your welcome. Uh, um, do you need anything?"

"Harry, why are you so nervous, it's just Kaylee. Relax." Did I really just f*cking say that?

"I know, it's just... I expected you to be mad at me. And then you started actually responding to me..."

"I...I don't know. It just came naturally, I guess." I looked down.

"Oh."

We sat there in silence, the TV muted. I looked at the window.

"Could you open those for me?" I pointed to the curtains. He stood up quickly.

"Yeah, sure." Light flooded into my room. Much better. The view was just buildings and stoplights, but it was better than a hot dog infomercial. I smiled.

"Thank you."

"Y-yup." He sat back down.

The next two hours were agonizing. There was nothing on TV, no nurses to interrupt us, or anything. Once in a while I said something, but the conversations never lasted a minute.

Stupid awkwardness.

Harry sighed nervously. "Kaylee, I-"

Just then a nurse walked in. Thank you, Jesus. She smiled, then frowned.

"Oh, sorry, I forgot my clipboard downstairs. Be right back!"

I mentally groaned. We were on the third floor. Sort of curious of what Harry had to say, I looked at him.

"What were you going to say?"

"Oh, um." He took a deep breath. "Kaylee, I know this sounds crazy, but I really do still love you. I'm sorry I hurt you, I didn't know it would do this much to you. I can make this better-"

I cut him off. "Do you really think I could be with someone, especially you, after what happened to me?"

"I know, but-"

"I don't wanna hear it, Harry. There's no us, anymore. I can't believe you would say that. I still hate you." This kid was really getting on my nerves. So much for the millisecond of niceness.

He looked at me, and tears filled his eyes. The redheaded nurse walked in.

"Okay, sorry about that. Sir, you can leave, visiting hours are over. Thank you for coming."

Harry stood up and opened the door. He sniffled, and tears streamed down his face. I'm surprised his voice didn't crack when he spoke next.

"My pleasure."

~Harry's POV~

I ran. I ran through the hallways, down the stairs, and out the door. It was sprinkling outside. The street lights were the only thing making the street visible. A cold gust of wind hit my back. The only thing I could do is run. I sprinted down the sidewalk, taking random turns. My vision blurred with tears. I needed to get away from all this. How could she be so cold, even after I tried?

After at least a half an hour, I came upon the park with the willow trees. I panted and jogged to the bridge. I can't go on with this any longer. Kaylee hates me, and all I've ever done after I left was thinking about her and regretting it. My head was spinning as I looked down and held my breath. The river seemed so inviting right now. My conscious spoke up.

You can end it. Right now. Just do it.

Escape.
