"What?!" I say starting to feel the anxiety of what went wrong at the ball? He pulls me by the arm and hurries me to his horse. It was cold, raining, and I didn't have an extra layer of clothing on me.
"Here, wear this." Gabriel turns me over with his cloak as he puts it on me instead and begins to help me onto the horse. "Your highness! First of all, you haven't really explained what's going on! And second, I didn't agree to any of this!" I calmly whispered without waking the people who lived on the street.
"You are a healer right?" He begins to lift himself up in front of me, "I am. But don't you have your own healer, hence her being the royal healer? She is in the castle." He sighs and starts to rush the horse out of the sidewalk and onto the street heading in the direction of the castle.
"Of course we do, but she's asking for your help." I gripped his shirt tightly from his back, I had no intention of wrapping my arms around him. I take a look around, it seemed as if the shops were still opened, but the town felt so empty. Even though, there was people going in and out of the bars that were still open.
"But why would she ask for my help?" He doesn't say anything, instead he runs the horse even faster. His expressions were serious. And in my head I think how she would of been dying. She must have been poisoned through some drinks or food she had.
We finally get to the castle. One of the guards calls out to the another guard coming from the tower to open the gates. They both start to open them slowly as they leave a small gap for us and the horse to fit in.
The rain started pouring even harder.
Coming from the distance, were voices singing in a melody. "That sounds like," Gabriel pulls me up the stair case. The castle sure did look glistening even in the rain. "Sirens." He says. "They're singing her a lullaby. To avoid her from–," He stops and then hurries up the stairs and into the castle.
"Albert, I need you to lead ELora to my mothers room." Albert nods. And a couple of maids lead behind us handing me towels and blankets. I kindly decline as they looked at me confused. So I gave them Gabriel's cloak.
"This way." He firmly says. We rush run up the stairs and enter a large corridor. A crowd of people were outside the room the queen was in. They stop and turned their faces toward us.
I stood there feeling frozen in the spot as all eyes were on me. Whispers flowed as we walked toward the room the queen was in. I tried to look around to see who was there to care for the queen. Majority of them were maids and other workers of the castle. But I caught a glimpse of the kings and queens of our world.
Based on their outfits I've read from my books, I could tell who belonged to which kingdom. Dayton, Cora, and Neva were the only ones I saw. Their style of crowns certainly told me which kingdom they were from. But of course, it was hard to tell because I only took one look.
I walked in slowly into the bedroom of queen Nerissa's. I thought it was temporarily hers because I imagined the room to be a lot more elegantly beautiful. It turns out it was a temporary room for her. As the crowd moved out the way to allow me to check on her, I noticed Amarante was there already doing stuff on her.
The queen was sleeping but breathing faster than normal. "ELora, you're finally here!" She whispers and gently pulls me to the queens bedside. "Why did you need my help?" I ask her as she begins giving me stuff. She didn't look too happy, but looked more concerned for the queen.
"Well, there's two parts to that." She pulls me aside. "One, because I can't do this potion and spell on my own, and two is for Gabriel's reason. He wanted to see you, but that doesn't matter right now. So please, I just need your help."
