04-09-14 MUST READ! ---------> Making a big change to the story, so if you are a first time reader I would like to ask you to stop after this chapter (see if you like my writing) and save this story in a reading list before you continue reading because the background story is going to be completely different! Although the general concept of my story will be staying the same, this story relies heavily on the background story.

This is my first story on here so comments and constructive criticism are wanted, almost despretly needed. Hope you enjoy!

05-22-13 Minor editing has been done. If you have any questions, feel free to comment what you're confused about or inbox me your questions. If you're confused about something, tell me what you're confused about, I would be happy to answer your questions!

07-05-13 Any person's name or description in this story is purely coincidental! Further in the story I realized there is a person with a name that I'm going to use so I thought I should say this. I look up baby names and their meanings for my characters, I do not purposely look up people. Thought I should make that clear.

Chapter 1 - Job Audition and Living Conditions

I sat in the dark on my ratty, old couch. The electricity had gone out last week as I couldn't pay the bills, as had the heat. This was the dead of winter, as in the beginning of January, when the temperatures could drop to five degrees. The cold has seeped through the thick layer of three blankets and a comforter as well as my clothes and is now slowly seeping through my body, chilling me to the core. My body trembled from the inside out. The only thing in my cupboards is alcohol; I have a bottle of Jack Daniels, half a bottle of Tequila, and a small bottle of Rum. How I have these is beyond me because I'm only 17. I have to be at school in three hours. The only bill I can afford to pay is my cell phone along with food and the rent. My 'job' gives me a lot every night that I work, which isn't often now. My boss had been getting complaints from the other girls I work with. Most of them saying that I had been stealing their 'clients'. I don't know how I can steal their 'clients' when I don't have that job. The sleaze ball place I work at is Venus. It's a low key kind of place. This is the place where people of the city come to not be recognized. I'm just glad my boss has some semblance of moral; he won't give me the 'other' jobs. I always work the bar or I'm 'dancing' on the stage, or pole. Tonight I had mostly worked the bar, the only good part about the place.

I've been working here for a year and a half now; my mother found me with my ex-boyfriend in my bed. We had been kissing; it had turned into full out making out. His shirt was off as well was mine. I wasn't going to let it go any further because at the time I knew I wasn't ready. My mother is heavily religious; my father had been rather neutral on the subject. I don't know how he had married my mother. He had died two years before and I was still recovering from the loss. I had quit dancing to help my mother with the cost of Dad's funeral. Dad loved to watch me dance. He paid for it and was always at my recitals. Mom never supported it, thinking it was going to corrupt my mind from the heavenly Lord. Dancing used to be my life, I felt free from all the restraints mom had put me under. I made friends that mom didn't approve of, Dad adored all of them. Those two were total opposites, in every way possible. Mom always wanted me to be prim and proper while Dad supported me when I wanted to be sweaty and dirty from playing outside with my friends. I missed him so much. The ache in my heart burned a bigger hole. He was the only one who understood me, or at least supported me in what I wanted to do with my life. I had wanted to be a lawyer while mom had a different idea which mostly consisted of me being a religious stay at home mother with five children. I have never wanted kids, maybe when I'm older perhaps, but not until I had my career under me, which will probably never happen now.

My mother went berserk when she found my ex and me. She had yelled at me and even slapped me in the face, yelling at me to leave and never come back; I haven't. I put my clothes on and grabbed what I needed and left. I went to Rachel's for a month until I got enough money to rent an apartment. I found Venus one night while I was contemplating on waitressing at a couple places just to pay for the rent of a rundown apartment I had my eye on. I walked in to get a drink. I watched the girls 'perform on the stage or should I say pole, as I went to the bar. The bartender, whose name I later came to know as Ryan, had some moral because he asked me for my license after I asked for a shot of tequila. Apparently the look on my face said it all as he smiled at me and set an Afterglow in front of me after making it.
