Flashback to the Past

Narrator's POV

It's the last week of April in Boston, Massachusetts. It's a late afternoon on Thursday and it's raining on that day, cloudy and gray. Cars rush on the roads, the headlights leading the drivers back home. Boston's city lights lights up the sky, showing the world that it's still awake. People who are outside hurry to get to a warm place, sheltered from the pouring rain. 

But at Harvard near the city, the famous college is still up as well. Many students are finishing their homework in their dorms or studying in the study halls or chatting with their friends in the lounges until late at night. Teachers are already home, either grading their students' assignments or homework or resting after a long day. 

Joanne Norman is in her dorm, enjoying her new life at Harvard - making new friends, focusing on her degree as a lawyer, and finding a new boyfriend who cares about her and loves her. She's excited to be in Harvard, and she's loving it so far. She knows her parents are very proud of her and they will support her no matter what. She's an excellent student and many teachers favor her as one of the best students in the university. 

Besides the good things in her life, it has been almost a year since Joanne experienced the true horror of Mad Maggie - where the bullied get revenge on the bullies. Mad Maggie - also known as Maggie Thornton, the girl who was bullied by Joanne and her friends since 3rd grade. She's bullied for her unique purple eyes and pale skin. Some people call her witch because they think since she has purple eyes and pale skin, she must be a witch.

Well, she might be secretly a witch because she got back to life after being killed in a prank that went wrong - but no one knows how is it possible. Joanne and her friends and former boyfriend witnessed it all. After Joanne and her friends ran away from the crime scene and kept their mouths tight, Mad Maggie rose back to life to get revenge on them. She killed all of Joanne's friends before breaking her boyfriend's neck in front of Joanne and then tried to kill Joanne but decided to leave her alone until she strikes back again a year later. Mad Maggie wanted Joanne to be afraid of her. She wants everyone who gets in her way to be afraid of her.

While Joanne and her parents settle in Boston after she graduated from her high school, Martha's Vineyard has been on edge since the deaths, but they relaxed a bit after they noticed that the killer didn't show up since the police found Joanne passed out and bleeding at Eric's house. The police office called this horrific deed "The Dark Week" because all of the deaths except Joanne's took within a single week. 

Joanne has went to therapy during the summer and through the fall semester. She feels better and she's able to get all As during the fall semester and now it's spring semester of her first year at Harvard. But still, she would get nightmares about Mad Maggie once in a while. Some of them are worse than the others, but Joanne still thrives on, determined to live her life without fear.

But soon, Mad Maggie will be done with Joanne once and for all...
