Joanne's POV
We finally enter into the abandoned mall. It took some time to get the boards off the door but we're in. The whole place is dark, but luckily the moon is out and there's some light peeking through the holes on the roof and all that. There's a lot of old junk around here - discarded papers, soda cans, burned out cigarettes, syringes (ew), newspapers and some piles of dirt. Plants begin to poke out of the cracks in the mall - on the floor, out of the walls and spilling out of the broken roof. Pit holes, broken glass and peeled paint are everywhere - it looks like if there was a riot in here. Geez...
Stayner rubs his chin as he lays his arm across my shoulders. I look at him for a while before I ask him, "What is it, Stayner? What are you thinking about?"
"You saw that missing poster on the fence, right?" Stayner asks me.
"Yeah, of course." I nod at him. Stayner thoughtfully mutters, "That guy on the missing poster looks so familiar to me, but I can't recall when did I met him..."
"Forget about it, Stayner. I'm sure you'll remember eventually." I say as I pat his arm. Stayner smirks before he leans down to kiss my head.
"Oh that reminds me of something - a friend of mine told me that he saw someone walking into the mall last night." Kaleb comments out of the blue. I look at him and ask, "Did your friend got a good look of that guy?"
"No, but he can tell it's a girl." Kaleb says before he chuckles. "If she's still in there, I'd love to fuck her around."
A girl. Why does that give me the shivers? I honestly have no idea...except maybe it's the fact that the monster who killed my friends was the girl I bullied for years...but that's impossible. She can't get off the island via ferry without freaking out the people with her bloodied face and alerting the police. I doubt she'd even swim that far.
"This is so creepy as fuck..." Hannah mutters as she holds on Joe's arm. We look around in the mall, hoping to see a ghost or something when suddenly, a loud crash echoes across the mall. It's so loud, it's almost like a gunshot.
"What the fuck, man?!" Chris jumps, holding Chloe's hand. When we stand still, all is quiet. Nothing happens for a while, so we keep going until we're next of a dark tunnel.
"I hope that sound was from a ghost!" Hannah giggles nervously. There's another crash from the dark tunnel leading to nowhere. It's too dark to see what's inside, it's pitch black in there.
"Sounds like it's coming from in there." Chris mutters as he steps forward. Just as he takes another step, a large piece of glass flies past him and it actually gets stuck on a wall behind him. Thankfully we're not right behind him. Chris almost falls down but he regains his balance.
"What the hell was that?!" Stayner says as Chris steps back to us, terrified. His eyes are wide as breakfast sausages and he gasps in panic.
"Is this a fucking prank, dude?!" Kaleb shouts at him. Hannah whimpers, "It better be...I don't wanna die!"
We hear soft footsteps coming towards us from the dark tunnel, but we don't see who is it. Then the footsteps stop right before they get closer. We all stand there, breathing lightly, almost choking on the air.
"You!" a deep, raspy voice growls. We all jump from it, and the mysterious person steps out of the tunnel, right in the moonlight...
"No!" I yelp in fear. I knew it's her - the girl that Kaleb's friend saw last night! She's still the same - purple flannel button shirt, a gray shirt, dark skinny jeans and black combat boots. The blood is still on her face from the wound at the top of her forehead, on her silver chipped fingernails, on her clothes and on her arms. Her purple eyes are very dark, like dark violet mixed with light lilac together.
