Lyndon's office was nice. When you first walk in straight ahead was his secretary's desk. To the right were three other desks in a room. Behind Nicole's desk was a short wall. Behind the was was a sitting area with a TV, two chairs and a couch. To the right was a meeting room with a long wooden table and office chairs surrounding it. To the left was his office, and next to his office was another small room that had a small bed, closet, and a bathroom.
Lyndon cracked open a bottle of scotch and sat at his desk. I turned on the TV and sat on the couch. The news was on, and was giving me the weather. Moments later I looked over at Lyndon. Half the bottle was gone and he was asleep. I relaxed and closed my eyes.
I thought I was in a dream when I saw the perfect angel stand over me. She was calling my name, sort of. "Sir, sir." she said multiple times until I came to. "Sir, are you okay?" she said in a sweet voice. Her hair was jet black, she had thin lips, dark eyes, and she wore a black button shirt and a plaid grey, black and white skirt. I sat up violently and looked over at Lyndon, he was still asleep. The beauty was distracting me. I rushed over to his desk and slapped him away.
"Jesus fu-" he started.
"Bruce! We gotta check on Bruce!"
"Shit, shit shit."
"Um...Is everything alright?" the woman asked.
"Nicole." Lyndon said. "Good morning."
"Good morning, sir."
"This is my friend Irish. Irish June." He stood up and adjusted his clothes. "Irish, there's a bed back there, go rest up, I'll come back to get you later. You need to rest. Nicole will take care of all your needs. Let me go check on Bruce." He put his hands on my shoulders and took me to his room. Then he left.
I couldn't sleep, or relax, I had to check on Bruce, so I texted him, no answer. I spun around in Lyndon's chair looking for something to do. Nicole walked up to the desk and watched me for a moment. "Coffee, sir?" she asked giving me a sexy smile.
"No, no." I returned the smile. "And please call me Irish." She looked down in embarrassment then looked back at me. "Have you heard from Lyndon?"
"No, sir-I mean..no." she yawned.
"You okay? Tired?"
"I was up late, then I forgot my coffee this morning. It's nothing."
I stood up and walked to the elevator. "Is there a cafe around?" I asked.
"You don't have to go down to the third floor, I'll order it, and have it sent up."
"Nicole, I can walk. What kind of coffee do you want?"
"Oh, no, I'm fine. "
I stepped in the elevator. "Latte? Tell me now."
"A simple latte, but you don't have to-" The elevator doors closed. I took it down to the third floor. Grabbed one latte and took it back up to Nicole.
When the elevator doors opened she was sitting at her desk playing with a pencil. She saw me and put it down. I walked up to her and handed her to coffee. "Thank you." she smiled. I nodded. Then Bruce and Lyndon walked in. Nicole immediately sat down and pretended to work.
"Bruce." I said.
"She won't be able to walk anymore. But she'll make a full recovery. We're going to stay until after Bolvi's funeral, then we're leaving, and heading to Maine. To keep away all suspicions, we're gonna cut contact with people."
I followed them to Lyndon's office.
"I understand, so is this goodbye?" I asked.
"Yep." He hugged me and thanked me. Then he left without saying anything else.
"Irish, you ready for work?"
"Now? What's up?"
"A smash and grab at a house. It's a golden egg worth millions to a buyer."
"Now?" I asked again.
"Yes, I need money, and we're gonna go get it! The quicker we do this, the sooner you're in retirement."
"We need to stop by my house first. Then we can go. And we need to be back by tonight. I don't want another late night."
"Agreed. Nicole pull the car around, Irish and I are going out." We walked to the elevator. I looked at Nicole as we left, she looked at me and smiled. Lyndon noticed and frowned a little. Jealousy was on his face. Just a hint of it.
