When you finally regained consciousness, you didn't recognize your surroundings. You shot up, and noticed that Nanami was kneeling right next to you, her hand resting on your shin. "Nanami, what's going on?"

Nanami turned to look at you. She looked scared, but she tried to put on a happy face. "You're finally awake! I was worried about you."

"Where are we?" You asked, hoping she would actually answer.

She frowned. "I'm not sure. The guy who brought us here, I think he said his name was Mizuki, said this was a shrine."

"Well than, shall we go see what our kidnapper has in mind?" You said with a tired sigh.

"Yeah." Nanami nodded. She grabbed your hand, and helped you up. She didn't let go after you stood. "We don't actually know if this is a shrine. Better to be safe." Nanami smiled sheepishly. You could tell she was lying. She was scared.

The two of you exited the room, and headed down the hallway. You entered a large room, similar to the main room of the Mikage shrine. Mizuki was sitting on a cushion, sipping sake in the middle of the room. It is Mizuki after all. You thought to yourself.

"So, I see this place is the same as ever." You stated with an uninterested yawn.

"I don't recall you ever visiting this shrine before." Mizuki said, looking up from his cup of sake.

"I have been here many times before. Once, long before you hatched from your egg, and several times in the past couple of years." You explained.

"Who are you?" Mizuki asked. He seemed perplexed by your presence.

"You can call me (Y/N). I'm the Beast goddess. I have visited here many times when you were scared. I'm not sure why you were so upset, but I could feel your sadness and fear." You looked at the snake familiar with a sad smile. "Please, take us home, Mizuki."

"I cannot do that." Mizuki stated plainly.

"I'm leaving!" Nanami shouted. Without warning, she turned and ran out the door of the shrine.

Pain exploded throughout your body, and you fell to your knees. Fear built inside of your chest. You looked up at Mizuki, eyes shocked. "She's not here? When?" You gasped through the pain.

"I don't know what you mean?" Mizuki stated, looking down at you with an emotionless face.

"When did your goddess die?" You choked out the words.

Mizuki's eyes widened. "How do you know that?"

Your vision began to fade, as the pull of the summoning became unbearable. "Nanami." You croaked, begging the land god to come back, but it was too late. You felt weightless, as your body was transported through a tunnel of blackness. The dark tunnel spat you out, and you slammed into the ground, your wrist cracking under your weight. You tried to keep as quite as possible, as you looked around yourself. You were in the middle of a forest. You tried to focus, but you couldn't see any bars in the darkness that swallowed everything. The creature that had called you, was a bird-faced yokai that was hiding in the trees.

You groaned, and tried to stand, but you felt a cold piece of metal press against your left shoulder. "I've got you." A cold voice hissed in your ear. You felt as though all the blood in your body had turned cold. Without a moment of hesitation, you transformed into a mouse, and bolted away from that cold voice.

You raced straight through the forest. You spotted those cold iron bars, and tried to go in between them. You ran full force, and slammed into something. You bounced back, and shook your head in a daze. You tried to focus, and spotted a tight-nit metal mesh was wrapped around the outside of the cage. Panic welled in your chest as you spun around to try and find another exit, but he had already caught up with you.
