I looked over at Bobby with a smile, grabbing his hand while he layed back in the hospital bed. I smiled and played with the ring on his finger. I felt the urge to slide next to him. When I felt a cold breeze from the curtain of the hospital room opening suddenly. Kian was with more of Bobby's bags that the nurse had slid over to us.
"What do you guys say we head out of here?"
Kian said, over enthusiastic for my taste. We smiled and complied. I helped Bobby walking to the car. And out of the hallways. I was so young at the time, being 23 and young. But Bobby was someone I already knew I cared so deeply about. But then, after that night with Kian my whole perspective on him had changed. As we walked out I stared at Kian. Or at least, the back of his head. As he was in front of us leading the way. He was so strange, had drinking bends, was moody, and stubborn. But he was gentle. He knew how to make you feel like you were a wanted human being. Everything about his presence, and after that night I knew there was more to Kian Lawley. And now, instead of being repulsed by him. I was intrigued to know everything I could about him. His thoughts, persona, and everything in between.
I was snapped back to reality when I felt the warm air of the California sun hit us as we got to the parking lot. As we were walking, I felt a hand reach my neck. It was Bobby's. He was playing with my hair and rubbing the small of my neck. I smiled at him, but turned to whisper. "Not now." But in the most smiling way possible.
He rolled his eyes, giving me the if I have to look. I chuckled back at him and we finally reached the car. Kian opened the door and let us in. Scowling at me. Bobby got in the car.
"Hey, I was wondering if you could stop the the cafeteria to grab my laptop. I can't believe I forgot it when I was eating. But I need it to edit." I smiled at him. "Me and Kian will go and grab it for you." He smiled back and laid comfortably in the seat. We shut the door and started walking.
Kian quickly tried beating my speed. "Kian." I said. No response. Just the swift motions of his walk were the only things talking back to me. And if they were, need I say anymore? But nonetheless I kept persisting. "Kian.." he quickened even more. A near speed walk.
I ran up to him and grabbed him by the shoulder, making him turn around in one angry motion. "What." He told me, his voice low and grumbling.
"What is up with you? You've been ignoring me all day." He gave me the most clueless stare. Like he knew what was wrong, but he didn't know how to word it. "I can't figure it out yet." I scowled and walked closer to the hospital building. "I feel something between us." Spoke Kian softly behind me. It was enough to make me stop in my tracks.
I slowly turn back to him, "And what would that be?" I questioned him, giving him a firm stare. He shrugged, looking a tad defeated. "I don't know yet. We've known each other for a short time. But that connection is just there. And it hasn't faded." I got closer to him. Almost forgetting we were in a public parking lot. "And no matter how many times I get drunk off my mind, no matter how many times I piss you off, there's something here between us." I looked at the floor. Quiet as could be.
"Look at me." He exclaimed, grabbing my shoulders. Causing me to look up at him, startled. He gave me the most intense stare. As if his mind could see my soul. "Am I wrong about this?" He asked me.
I pulled away. "Maybe we can find out sometime." And continued walking to the cafeteria. He followed behind me. "What does that mean?" His voice was getting tense. He was starting to get agitated. "It's too soon for this. I want to be close friends with you for now Kian. And then we can figure out what needs to be done." I came up to me and put out his hand.
"Agreed?" I said, he nodded along with me and shook it. I wanted nothing more than to be with him, but while we WERE young. We still knew what to do and what not to do.
