"So there's a pretty girl I have to drive around the circuit for a Red Bull video?". Daniel chuckled as he zipped up his racing suit. "Pretty much, she's not from here. I hope she speaks a bit of English". Simon shrugged and handed him his helmet. "I'll figure something out". A grin showed up on his face and he got to the Aston Martin, the Red Bull Racing version of it with his racing number on it. He got into the car on the driver's side, looking next to him to see the girl dressed up in the traditional Austrian clothing.
"Hi, i'm Daniel". He shook her hand, although found it a bit weird he couldn't see her face as she was wearing a helmet. "Hi, nice to meet you!". She told him rather enthusiastically and Daniel shook it off. "Hope you don't have a weak stomach, sugar". He told her with a grin and he heard a soft chuckle. She squealed when he let go of the clutch and the car sped towards the pit lane, the engine roaring as it quickly shifted gears. She held onto the handle above the door as Daniel steered the car through the curves of the circuit.
Her high pitched voice sounded every time he drifted sideways, causing a smirk to appear on his face. They arrived safely back at the pit lane and Daniel stopped the car, looking over at his guest. "Can I drive a bit? Please?". Her question surprised him, the innocence in her voice made him too curious to say no. "Ehm, okay". Daniel got out of the car to swap seats. She got behind the wheel and shoves the chair a bit forward so her shorter legs could reach the pedals.
"You have to help me a bit". She nervously said and Daniel briefly glanced at her shaking fingers. She had an accent he recognized but at the same time couldn't completely put his finger on. He recognized her voice too, but too vaguely to connect someone he knew to it. "You shift with the clips behind the wheel, you can drive a normal car, right?". She nodded in response and that made him relax a bit, knowing they wouldn't crash too hard, hopefully. "Then start the car and drive". Daniel simply told her and she nodded.
She gently pressed on the button to start the engine, placing her hands on the wheel and driving slowly away. Daniel bit on his lowerlip as she jumped from the sudden movement, foot pressing on the brake and then letting go. It was a bit of a bumpy ride to the end of the pit lane. She looked over at Daniel and almost heard his sigh, what had he gotten himself into. "Hope you don't have a weak stomach, sugar". She told him with a smile and Daniel's heart skipped a beat when she sped away.
Driving with precision and excellence, he didn't know how, but she steered smoothly through the curves, braked on the good moments and the exit of the corners was something some F1 drivers dreamed of. Daniel started to laugh as he realized this was a small prank, clapping in his hands as she neatly drove through the pit lane again to get the car back in the pit box of Red Bull. "Who are you?". He asked, too curious to see who was hiding her face in the helmet.
She got out of the car and Daniel followed her movements. She loosened her helmet and shook her black hair over her shoulder, moving her fingers through it. "The new test driver". She smiled, her piercing, green eyes looking up at him. He suddenly knew, a wave of a memory drowning his mind, a wide smile curling his lips.
"Giulia". He sighed and wrapped her up in a hug, he never thought he'd see her again.
A/N: New fic! Needed to write something with Daniel again. I'll tag everyone of the taglist later, as I'm publishing this with my phone. First thoughts & opinions are welcome!
