The neighbors

It is now night and I must've fallen asleep at my desk. I was awoken to someone calling my name. It sounded like my mom. I get up from my chair and walk into her room. I crack open the door and peek inside. She's fast asleep. "Aria....," it said again. I step out into the hallway and is immediately hit by a flowery scent. After that I hear knocking. I turn on the hallway light and head downstairs. I go to the door and look through the peep hole. No one  is at our door. "How am I the only one that hears this. AND HOW DOES MOTHER SLEEP THROUGH THIS?," I thought. I shook my head and run up the stairs. Once upstairs I look in the hall closet for my old star night light. I found it and plugged it in one of the sockets in my room. After that I crawl in bed and try to fall asleep once more.

"ARIA WAKE UP! The neighbors will be here for breakfast! After that we will go down to the fair! WE HAVE A BIG DAY AHEAD OF US!!," my mother yells. "And why is my 16 year old daughter sleeping with a night light," she asks. I choose to ignore that question and start to get up.

I look at the time. It's 8:10 on a Sunday morning. I walk to the bathroom. Once I get into the bathroom, I turn on the water to take a shower. I walk out of the bathroom to get a towel. "Aria...," someone said to me in a whisper shout. "Ignore it Aria," I thought to myself. Then I heard some knocking again.  "ARIA QUIT DOING THAT," my mother yells from the living room. "YES FINALLY SOMETHING SHE HEARD!" I run down the stairs and into the living room. "Mom," I started, "That wasn't me! I think we need to get this place checked out.." Mother narrowed her eyes at me. "April  Fool's Day isn't here yet, and Halloween just passed a month ago. Don't come to me with that crap. AND I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE THAT SHOWER ON IN THERE WITHOUT YOU IN IT," she tells me. I look down at my feet starting to get irritated and angry with my mom for not believing me. Then again she doesn't believe in ghosts. I guess I'm in this boat alone.

I walk back upstairs and into the bathroom. I get in the shower. About a good five minutes in, the lights start to flicker. My heart starts to race. I try to look on the bright side of things. "Maybe the lights are flickering because there is something wrong with the electricity," I thought. "Who am I Kidding? There's something here and WILL get to the bottom of it!" After the light stopped flickering it just turned itself off. "Don't be scared! Evil spirits feed off of fear." I tried so hard to keep my heart rate under control. I now hear a laugh. A little girl's laugh. All of a sudden the bath faucet turns on. I hear the laugh again. Everything just stops. The lights doesn't come on though. Out of the corner of my eye I see the words "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE," written on the bathroom mirror in mom's red lipstick. Out of fear, I grab the nearest towel, jump out of the shower, and run downstairs to tell mom what I just encountered. As soon as I get down there I saw our neighbors from yesterday! AND I AM IN MY TOWEL!

The purple eyed girl starts laughing and the icy blue eyed boy starts blushing. And their mother? She looks flat out disgusted. I feel so embarrassed right about now. My mother looks at our neighbors and awkwardly smile. Then she starts to awkwardly laugh. "Oh and Umm that is my daughter, Aria. Today she's a little paranoid from being in a new house. If you'll excuse me Mrs. Snow...," my mother says to our neighbors.

My mother looks at me angrily. She marches up the stairs and I follow behind. She goes into her room and motions for me to come. I sigh and walk into her room. She closes the door behind her. "WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU LATELY, ARIA?," she yells at me. "Mom I seriously think we should go to the library and check this house's history. I don't think we're alone..," I say. "You are starting to irritate me. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS HOUSE! It's all in your head." "NO IT'S NOT," I sound like a 5 year old but I'll do whatever it takes for her to believe me. "It's not in my head mom. I HAVE PROOF THAT IT'S NOT!" "Prove it," she presses as she narrows her eyes at me. I walk out of her room and into the bathroom. The words "Get Out Of My House," are still there. "See?," I say as I point to it. "Is this some type of joke?" I look at her like she asked the dumbest question ever. WHICH SHE DID. I open my mouth to protest but she interjects. "Your making all this stuff up just to go back to Florida to get into EVEN MORE trouble with your "Friends"," she says. I can't believe she is calling me a liar. "THAT'S NOT TRUE AND YOU KNOW IT! THE FACT THAT YOUR CALLING YOUR OWN DAUGHTER A LIAR IS HORRIBLE!" At this point we are having a full on argument. I don't even care that the neighbors are listening. Ten minutes later she walks out and tells me to finish washing up and to clean the mirror.

I AM SO ANGRY I FEEL LIKE PUNCHING SOMETHING. Mother leaves to go to her room to take an aspirin and to smoke. I finish washing up, puts on a black top and black leggings, cleans the mirror and do my makeup. When I get out of the bathroom, mama goes out of her room. She looks at me, puts her blond hair into a ponytail and walks down the stairs. I sigh and walk down with her.

When I get to the living room I smell delicious pancakes coming from the kitchen. As soon as the neighbors heard us coming they turned to look at us. "Okay," mother claps, "Who's ready to eat?"

After eating the neighbors introduce their selves to me. The purple eyed creepy girl's name is Genesis and her brother's name is Konner. I told them that my name is Aria. I also wanted to say that I am not looking for friends, I want to graduate, go back to Florida to apologize, and to see my dad again. I didn't say it though. I wanted to.

After introducing ourselves we all piled into Mrs. Snow's car. Genesis tried  making a conversation with me. I didn't want to talk but I couldn't be rude and just ignore her. So instead I gave her these one or two word answers. I'm really not trying to be rude but the last thing I need is a repeat of Florida. Not all people are bad though. I just have a hard time trusting people.
