***Luke's POV***
I trek through the forest alone. It had been an eventful couple of hours. Leia had gotten lost in a speeder bike chase, the team had split up to look for her, and I had no clue where I was. The speeder bike chase had been pretty intense, with more than a few explosions and debris flying everywhere. It also didn't help that there were trees everywhere, and we were going at a pretty high speed. That would have equaled a crash if I hadn't been careful. But the good news is, I didn't crash, but Leia did, and she disappeared. She wasn't dead - I would have felt it - but she was nowhere to be found. I hoped she had found safety.
I had been trekking around for a while, and I found no signs of civilization. I sure wished I had Han and Chewie here with me, because they would have been good company. Also, I was getting tired of the silence, which was pressing in. Soon I was just walking in a straight line, not really thinking about where I was going at the time.
It was when I tripped over something that I was jolted back to reality. I scrambled to my feet and looked for the thing I had tripped over. I couldn't see anything, so I was pretty confused. Then I heard something say something in a language I didn't recognise, and I looked down. It was pretty hard to describe in words, so this is what I saw:
I had no clue who or what this little guy was, so I tried talking to it.
"Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you, OK?" I raised my hands so it could see I wasn't carrying any weapons. It looked up at me, and lowered its spear. At least it could see I wasn't a threat. Slowly, as not to provoke it, I said in a gentle voice, "My name is Luke Skywalker. I'm here on a mission. Can you help me find my friends?"
The creature stares at me, then cocks his head. He seems to understand Basic, and is processing what I just said. Then, it turns and points to the horizon, then at itself.
"You want me to follow you?" I ask. It nods in reply and begins walking. I follow it, hoping it could lead me to my friends. Maybe it had seen them, and they were already in one place. Small hope, but any hope was good right about now.
Eventually, we came to a village. The thing that was amazing was that it was all in the trees, with ladders connecting it to the ground. Vines, ropes, and bridges connected all of the small building in the trees, acting as roadways. The houses themselves were constructed out of natural materials, with wood being among the most common. And you know what? There were more of the creatures, walking, swinging around, or talking. But they all seem to be congregating in a central home - one that was a little bigger than the others. The little guy was tugging on my hand, wanting me to hurry up. I follow him as he climbed the ladders to the village and went toward the central house. When I looked inside, I couldn't believe my eyes. Sitting there were Leia, the droids, and the rest of the team!
When they saw me, they all cheered and came out, asking me where I've been. I told them my story, and they all had similar encounters with the creatures, who I learned were called Ewoks. They seemed friendly, and they hadn't hurt anyone. And the best part? When C - 3PO translated for them, we found out that they didn't like the Imperial occupation, but didn't have the strength to take them down alone. This was great. We could help liberate Endor and complete out mission at the same time. With C - 3PO translating, I told them our story. Everything. About the Rebels, about our cause. About everything that happened from the first Death Star from this mission. And when I finished, the Ewok chief stepped forward and said they would help us.
And for the rest of the day, we laid out a detailed battle plan. Nearing dusk, we had everything ready. Everyone was confident in our plan. We planned to strike when the sun went down. And as we wrapped up the meeting, I knew that we would win.
***Darth Vader's POV***
I'm still waiting for my son. Nightfall is nearing. I can sense him, still somewhere in the forest. He isn't coming any nearer, though. Mostly staying in one place.
Turning around, I survey the base below me. Stormtrooper and scout trooper patrols come in and out. Techs, military personnel, and droids cross the base, going into building or the hangar. Nightfall may be approaching, but that doesn't mean the whole system stops.
Turning back around, I survey the dark forest. Somewhere out there, my son was with his friends.
And I was determined to find him.
