"Life is about taking chances." ~Sachii said on her opening speech after she greeted the most important people on the 102nd Commencement Exercises of De La Salle University, Philippines. She looked on the audience as she gave emphasis on her first 5 words.
"You take a chance when you raise your hand in class, you take a chance when you decide on a seminary. You take a chance when you drive, when you fly, when you swim, when you date, when you walk and talk and breathe." She added.
"And sometimes, there are choices to make, things to do and you have to decide if you want to take the chance, if it's worth taking a risk or to take the safe route and remain with the status quo."
"Will you hold your breath, close your eyes and jump into the deep end of the pool, hoping to make it back up and out intact, or will you stand on the sidelines, cheering on all those that try and do and win and lose?"
"Sometimes, you have to endure the voices whispering in your ear or shouting in your face, telling you that you can't, you shouldn't, you'll fail, you'll get hurt."
"You have to plug up your ears, tune out the dissenting voices and choose to listen to your own inner voice telling you, "You can, you can, YOU CAN!""
"Because you know yourself better than anyone else knows you."
"And if you sincerely believe in your ability and in your strength, then your strength will prevail."
"So believe that maybe, despite what they say, despite what they think, you can succeed , that you do have the power to overcome numerous challenges and prove to everyone else, most importantly to yourself, that the ultimate power lies in what you believe. And know that your Father is standing at your side, ready to catch you should you fall."
"Because though trying is not a guarantee for succeeding, one thing is definite: "Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.""
It was 4th day of April inside the Hall of the University. After Sachii gave her speech, many gave her a standing ovation and applauded. First of all, her speech's main idea is we are what we are based on the result of what we choose. She believes on that saying.
Sacheena "Sachii" Gonzales is the youngest of the three children and only daughter of Mr. Renato and Mrs. Marilyn Gonzales, who both works as a Editor-in-Chief and Writer on a famous magazine who does a monthly issue.
She graduated as Mechanical Engineer, a profession that she really wanted and dreamed. It is according to her, that she was influenced by the novel, Time Machine by H. G. Wells. And now on her brown eyes, the imagination that filled her mind has now turned into reality.
"Speech kills!" Greeted by Marco, her older brother next to Jimson, as he gave her a hug when the ceremony finally ended.
"I know right! I made it for a week, 'guess I need to improve it more when given a little seconds." Sachii answered as she hugged her brother back.
Her whole family was there except for her father who is busy on appointment with the Head Editor of GINZA Magazine in Japan. But, with the help of a modern technology, it seems like he is also there.
"So---you really changed some parts of it?" Marco asked.
"Not really all~" (laughs) "Where's mom and Jimson?" She asked.
"Jimson is getting the car now and mom is ah----- yeah where is she?" He answered while looking around to find their mother.
Suddenly, Sachii's friends came in to greet her. Mostly about the speech that she made. It was meaningful and a thing that all can relate.
