Prem scolded himself. He was drunk and deluded himself into thinking that maybe this time it would be different.

The little "read" text underneath his message tore his heart into two.

He was wracked with guilt immediately. He was being selfish. That wasn't what Wad needed. He had enough to deal with; Prem knew better than anyone.

He fiddled with the phone in his hands. He contemplated texting him again, an apology for being the way he was. He wanted to explain himself. He wanted to explain everything.

Prem took a deep breath, and let it back out shakily. He shoved his phone back into his pocket and turned his attention back to his computer. He shouldn't neglect his job search. It was the most important thing he had to deal with, he told himself.

He knew that he was lying to himself, but his rent was overdue, and his landlord wouldn't be patient with him forever.
