Assalaam alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu peepz. Hope you are all doing well?
Talking about Hijab here, it will be very important to talk about the issue trending in Nigeria these days.
In Nigeria Law school, head coverings are not allowed in the three dinners one is expected to take part in before being called to the Nigeria Bar as a lawyer. Also, when one is to be called to bar as an official lawyer, You're not expected to use anything to cover your hair! Pathetic.
This has been the Saga of female Muslim lawyers in the country. They would be sad and sorrowful on their call to bar ceremony because they had to remove their hijab. This ceremony which lasts for few hours has been a haunting memory for them. They never pray to experience that type of situation again in their lives.
The Most amazing part of the story is that the rules of the Nigeria law school is totally inconsistent with the provision of the constitution and therefore against the law of the land. The country recognises the human right to freedom of religion and right against discrimination, however, the interpreters of the said laws are the one violating the law. Moreover, there has been judicial precedent on the fact that hijab can be worn by interested Muslims in any public school or organisation.Students of the faculties of law have always tried their best to look for a solution to the problem but all was always in futility until a Sister, may Allah preserve her eeman summoned courage and refused to remove her hijab during the call to bar ceremony. She was persuaded and cajoled to remove the hijab but she insisted that she wasn't going to remove it. Then she was threatened not to be called to the Nigerian bar— the effect being that her six years effort of studying to become a lawyer will be thrown inside the bin and yet, the sister didn't remove the hijab.
At the end, the door to the hall was closed and she wasn't allowed to enter the hall for the ceremony and collection of her certificate.
Allahu Akbar, this sister, despite all the threats and obstacles, refused to make the laws made by humans to supersede Allah's law. She stood firm in the face of trial and she had trust only in Allah.
So many organisations has stood up to support the action of this sister. So many actions have been taken in support of the course. If the sister is called to bar with her hijab, then other female Muslims won't have problem wearing their hijabs during the campaign and that's why you have to support this course. Hijab is an order directly from Allah and must not be subdued by any decree or law. We are Muslims and we must remain to be so, anytime, anywhere.
# I support Firdausa Amasa,
# I support hijab for call to bar !
Do you support her too? If yes, do all you can do in your capability To Help her. She must be called to bar in her hijab!
Assalaam alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu.
