CHAPTER 3

I didn't know what to say to that. My heart was pounding so hard it hurt my chest at every beat. That night, that bloody godforsaken night! The things I'd do to go back and undo it... But I couldn't. Everything I did was for a good reason, whether the rest of the world thought so or not.

Harry left me wondering what it was he knew. I was eager to find out but terrified at the same time, something was telling me I wouldn't exactly be ecstatic about this "something" he knew.

The car ride to wherever we were going was pretty quick and after Harry spoke for the last time, not a single word was exchanged between the three of us. I was too scared to say anything. I wanted to drag out me being clueless for as long as possible. I'd learnt that secrets are a burden, once you have too many, it can be hard to even want to live. Let's just say, I knew the feeling.

The car pulled to a stop and Harry and Liam stepped out at the same time. The windows were almost fully tinted so I couldn't exactly make out where I was when I looked through them. I blew on a strand of hair that was hanging close to my face as I waited for someone to let me out of this obnoxiously large Range Rover.

Just as I was beginning to scream Harry's name in desperation, the backseat door opened and Liam appeared.

He smiled at me first before pulling out his hand at me. I looked at it then frowned at him. He rolled his eyes and shook his hand giving me an it's-ok look. I grabbed his hand firmly and he helped me off the car. I stepped on the asfalt of a parking lot and looked around. I seemed to be in some sort of apartment complex that looked extremely fancy and beautiful enough to be called a palace. I mouthed a 'wow' before I followed Liam inside.

We entered the building and found ourselves in a lobby which looked like that of a hotel's. The air smelled like chocolate mints and rose petals. Again, I wondered if this wasn't some sort of palace fit for royalty.

Compared to my flat, this was heaven and I was waiting for God to welcome me with some champagne and offer me to go get a foot massage by a world renowned thai therapist.

My thought bubble popped as Liam turned to face me. I looked wide-eyed at him wondering what we were doing here. I asked him but he didn't give me a straight answer. Just something about "you'll be safe here". Right.

He led me up an elevator and once we arrived at the 5th floor he motioned me towards the only door in the hallway. I stood in front of it admiring the woodwork and suddenly noticed something. There was a small tag drilled on the door that read "Styles, Tomlinson, Horan, Malik & Payne". Harry's name I knew, but who the hell was Horan & Co.?

Liam opened the door for me and led me inside. My jaw dropped, for about the 5th time since approximately 7 minutes ago, as I stared at the incredibly well furnished flat. It was absolutely gorgeous and you could tell it was only boys living in that household. Surprisingly neat boys may I add, since there wasn't even a spot of dirt anywhere.

I looked back at Liam still gasping and he smiled and then chuckled. I smiled back at him, his bubblyness was pretty contagious. He made the ambience feel like we were in a happy garden filled with bunnies and cupcakes even though I'd just been chased by a masked man, kidnapped by my best friend and taken to a stranger's house only to await hearing something I wasn't quite keen to hear. Oh boy. He made me smile. Boys that made me smile were recipe for disaster. Look where me and Harry ended up. Criminals. I didn't like that word. But that's what we were.

Liam led me to a separate room where I found Harry sitting on a couch, his elbows on his legs and his hands held in a fist to his mouth. He looked up at me and told Liam to leave. I glanced back at him and he smiled before leaving the room.
