CHAPTER 2
⧼ HARRY'S POV ⧽ I had my eyes straight on the road, driving at an incredible speed. I ignored the red lights and stop signs, I just needed to drive away from her, in case she'd recognized me. All these years and until only 2 weeks ago, I saw her walking outside my apartment building. I'd been watching her ever since. This kept me up all night, considering the driving around I had to do when she did her peculiar midnight promenades. I was worried about her. My childhood best friend. We'd been through so much. After she left, I had always wondered why she moved from Cheshire without saying goodbye. Maybe she was mad at me... I was afraid of meeting her again, to be frank.
"Did she see me?" I asked Liam.
"No, I don't think so."
There was a brief silence in the car as I drove.
"Why do you care if she finds out you've been watching her, anyway?"
I sighed. "Because I know her. She'll think I have other intentions. I'm just trying to protect her."
"You're a right stalker Harry."
I scoffed. "So are you."
"You dragged me into this remember?" Liam said pointing his index finger at me.
"Yeah, well whether you like it or not, we're sticking to our game plan. You'll go through with tomorrow as well. Understood?"
Liam nodded and I turned my head back at the road, focusing on getting us home before anybody noticed we were gone.
⧼ MAIA'S POV ⧽ 3:57 am. I locked the door behind me and sighed. I fell to the ground in fatigue as my eyelids were slowly closing. It took me all the strenght in my body to stand up and go to bed. I took off my clothes and left nothing on but Liam's hoodie. I rested my head on my pillow and drifted away in deep sleep. That was the first night I'd been able to sleep since you-know-what.
I woke up to the sound of the double deckers and people from outside my flat. My eyes were blinded by the sunlight, which was strange. It'd been a long time since I woke up one morning in London and it wasn't cloudy. Huh. There was this strange feeling filling the air. Like things were changing.
I was still shocked about seeing Harry last night. It'd been 2 years ever since I saw him, and it was quite unexpected that I'd see him again. I wondered what he was doing at that place, at that time, how he knew Liam. There had to be something going on.
After taking a quick shower, I grabbed Liam's hoodie that was hung on a wooden chair in my bedroom. I let my hand slide down the side pocket and pulled out the small paper Liam had handed me last night. I didn't have a cellphone nor a house phone, those were things my job wouldn't let me afford. I went outside to search for a telephone box.
Luckily, these weren't hard to find in London. I entered the red box and picked up the phone. After depositing a small coin and dialing the number, it started to ring. I swung back and forward on my feet waiting for an answer. Finally, someone picked up on the other end.
"Hello?"
"Yes, hi, is this Liam...?"
"Hi Maia!"
I stepped back in confusion. How did he know my name?
"Wait. How did you know-"
I was cut off. "So where should we meet?
I couldn't make out the words to say.
"Hello?" Liam spoke on the other end.
"Yeah um... sorry."
