The brown door squeaked as I pushed it open to the office. Shaw turned around in the chair to see who had entered and as his eyes fell on me, a questioning look appeared on his face. I closed the door and walked over to my chair.
My desk had been replaced sometime when I got back and it was a sleek burgundy color. The swivel chair made a soft whoosh sound as I sat down on the leather. Shaw looked around the office before his eyes settled on me.
"How is she?" He asked sincerely. I looked him in the eyes, my wolf and I still angry.
"She's fine. We... talked and she agreed to stay here. With me." I said slowly. His eyes widened before they narrowed.
"Really? I'm surprised. She usually tends to leave after getting a few days of care. You know, so she can get back on her feet." He said. I shook my head.
"Well, not this time. Is there anything else I should know about Crimson?" I asked. His eyebrows knitted together in thought.
"What I told you were only the basics. The child has so many secrets that even she doesn't know about them. You'll have to ask her on your own and find out what you can."
Leo shifted slightly, not liking his answer.
"Secrets like what?" I asked.
"I have no idea. I tend to not ask her about those. She seems to get... triggered when asked about certain things." He said with a serious look. The gears started turning away in my head.
"Triggered?" He sighed, running a hand down his face.
"Look, son," he leaned forward in the chair.
"There are things about Crimson you might not understand. She is a hard puzzle to solve, but once you've found that missing piece, she'll respect you. Trust me, I know. But if you go against her when she needs you the most, she'll never forgive you for it. Then and truly then, when you will wish that you were dead." He seems to whisper the last part, color draining from his face.
'What on Earth is he talking about?' Leo growled out. I shrugged, confused as well. The old man looked crazy as he glanced back towards the door. He looked back at me.
"Do not go against her and when she tells you something, listen and take it into consideration. It might save your life." He said quickly. I raised a brow at him.
"No disrespect, Shaw, but you sound crazy," I said with a slight chuckle. He shook his head.
"No, Paxton. You have to understand. She's not your typical--"
The door to the office suddenly flew open and revealed a panting Karlos. He looked at Shaw then at me.
"The Luna is escaping, Alpha!" He rushed out. I quickly rose out of my seat and made my way towards the door. I could hear Shaw following behind me and we made our way down the hall.
"Where are the guards that are supposed to be watching her?" I asked. I sniffed the air, smelling her addictive scent.
"Surprisingly, they were only knocked out when I got there. I was headed there to check up on you." He said. I growled, my eyes shifting.
'I am going to chain her up! And you won't stop me!' Leo shouted angrily. I pushed open the front doors of the house and sniffed again. My eyes moved towards the woods and a sickening grin made way on my face.
"Have men on the outskirts of the perimeter. Make sure she doesn't get past the region patrols. If she does, there will be consequences. Understood?" I spat, glaring at Karlos. He bowed his head and took off. Shaw came up beside me.
