The darkness swallowed me whole as I made my way towards my mate. My heart thundered inside my chest and my muscles were tense. The cold in the air was getting more severe to the point that I could see my breath and my lips were becoming extremely dry. The tips of my fingers were starting to grow numb and I rubbed my hands together.
'Something is wrong.' Leo whispered. I scoffed.
'You don't say.'
The end of the corridor was not far now and I could see a door at the end of the hall. It was wide and tall, almost reaching the tall ceiling. It was just like the door in the flooding room.
"Paxton,"
With a quick turn, I pressed myself against the wall, glancing between my right and left. My claws were extended and my eyes darted around for whoever said my name.
"Come on, Paxton."
The voice sounded as if it was to my right, but when I turned, there was no one there. A sudden feeling of someone grabbing my left hand caused me to jump and as I looked down, a brown hand was wrapped around mine.
There were no sparks. There wasn't even any warmth. It felt cold and dead like. Before I looked up, I knew who it was. My eyes trailed up and I stared into her dark eyes.
"We don't have a choice. I'm not strong enough to fight her."
The scenery began changing. I glanced back at the door then back at the figment of Crimson. This cannot be happening. Again.
"No. No. No. I can't do this right now." I tried to pull my hand out of hers, but she had me in a death grip. Her face was emotionless and her eyes were beginning to appear to be sunken in.
A small crack sounded and the corridor seemed to be breaking apart as if it was a sheet of paper. Grass began sprouting around us and the wind was blowing harshly. I looked around, recognizing the area.
It was the place I dreamt of when I was in the cave.
'Paxton! Fight it! It's pushing me out! Pax—' Leo's loud shouting was abruptly cut off.
I placed a hand against her arm, trying my hardest to push her away. It was like she was glued to her spot.
A figure in the distance caught my eye. The grass seemed higher where they were standing, and I began to realize that they were running towards me.
"I can't fight it."
When my eyes landed on her face, the feeling of nausea shook my stomach. Her eyeballs were gone and in their place was a glowing, red word in each socket.
Save Me
The sound of ripping grabbed my attention and I saw that the door was beginning to peel away. I looked back into her eye sockets and a few feet behind her, I could see that the figure was getting closer and closer.
My breathing became erratic.
I cannot let that door disappear.
The two words that appeared in her eye sockets made my eyebrows knit together.
Save Me
I wrapped a hand around her arm and instead of pushing her away, I pulled her towards me. Her body slid closer to mine and it was like something clicked inside my head. It felt weird, but also... satisfying.
"We have to run." Her lips moved, but it wasn't her voice. The figure was advancing towards us and with a quick jerk, I pulled us towards the door. It was barely any of the door left, but it was just enough where we could make it out.
