"This is the last of us, James Carstairs and Tessa Gray."
I frowned a bit. "Oh no, Charlotte. You forgot Cecily," I said.
Charlotte was left agaped, then she turned to Will. "I apologise, I forgot abot her presence here. I shouldn't have. It's just that she hasn't been here for that long, and I haven't seen that much of her...," her voice trailed off with guilt.
Will looked amused, but flicked his hand, dismissing her apology. Then I glanced over to the new girl. She was uniquely beautiful, her features of mixed heritage. If I had to guess, I'd say she's Caucasian and Chinese. Her slanted eyes looked similar to Jem's.
Then enter Cecily. From the look in the girl's face, she must've known Will and Cecily's relationship. They look so much alike. Then beside me, Jem walked over to sit beside Will, and I sat myself beside Jessamine across Jem, and Cecily planted herself beside Jem.
Charlotte spoke. "Good, everyone's here. Look, I've explained a little bit about all of us in my letters to our newest addition to the Institute. Her name is Lulu Rainheart. I've been corresponding with Miss Rainheart for about two weeks. She's here to train Cecily, Tessa and Sophie. She shall tell you her own story now."
Then Lulu Rainheart piped up. "Yes, this will be very short. If you have any questions, just ask me, and I will do the same." She inhaled. "I'm Lulu Rainheart, first of my name. My father was Julius Youngblood. He was running the Manila Institute when he met my mother. She was Indonesian and Sighted mundane. She went through the Ascension. Then they came back to Idris when she got pregnant. When I was three, they went on a mission and they never came back.
"Let me see. Then, I was took under the guardianship of Consul Wayland, and I trained normally as a Shadowhunter. I'm now two months away from the age of 17, and as of my 16th birthday, I emancipated myself from my family name, and chose my own Shadowhunter name, Rainheart." She finished.
Judging from the silence, it's safe to say everyone's trying to understand. Then, much to everyone's surprise, Will broke the ice.
"How could you be training Shadowhunters, while the official age to attend a Clave meeting and go demon hunting is 18?" he asked.
She looked amused. "It'a funny story, actually. When I was 6, Consul Wayland was visiting the Paris Institute, and I came with him. He was busy and I was bored, so I wandered around by myself. I remember seeing a lake, and I just sat beside it.
"Then a Drevak came outside of the bushes beside me. It wouldn't have realized me if I hadn't splashed some water around. Then I think I remembered I brought a witchlight with me, and then I remembered nothing. I woke up a few hours later, covered in ichor and unconscious, where I had stood earlier. I walked back to the Institute, and told them what happened." She told.
I exchanged glances with Jem and Will.
"That's... something," Jem commented. She laughed her appreciation and nodded lightly.
"So all this because you killed your first demon at age 6?" I asked.
"Yes, I reckon. Then I was really motivated to train really hard with the best teacher there is, and since i'm 15 I was officially granted permission to go on missions. But not Clave meetings. No exception to that rule," she explained.
"Well than my permission to hunt should be granted too," Will claimed.
Charlotte shook her head. "If you want to make the request to the Consul yourself, William," she laughed. Will dropped the subject.
Then Sophie and Agatha entered the room, our dinner held in silverware they brought. Sophie set the dinner for us, then scurried away to Lulu's side. "If I may take your coat, Miss?" she asked unnecessarily as she already peeled her coat off her body. It revealed her long, thick wavy strands of vixen hair. I held my breath. I've seen redheads before, but not lik her. Her hair is bright and red, falling down her back in thick waves. She sat back down, and ate her food gracefully.
"May I excuse myself ?" she asked when she finished her meal.
"Of course, let Sophie take you," Charlotte answered hastily, eyeing her wet attire.
Then came a voice. "If it's not a trouble, may I take Miss Rainheart to her room?" Will inquired. No one answered.
"If that's alright with you?" Charlotte asked to Lulu, at last. She nodded, unsure of the silence.
Will stood up with Lulu, and they walked together out of the room. When they passed Sophie, Will halted. "Where is her room?" he asked.
Sophie scoffed before answering, "It's three doors down from Miss Tessa's room."
Will gave her a cheeky bow before left.

We ascended the staircase. I can barely see the ground, because of the lack of lighting and my dress. Will apparently noticed, because a hand offered itself from above me. I hesitated for a second, but he took matters into his own hand. I laced my fingers in his gratefully.
I let go of his hand as soon as we reached the second floor. He gave a smile but did not say a word. I followed behind him as he kept walking the hallway. Then he came to a halt in front of a simple wooden door.
"This is it," he gestured at me. I exchanged looks with him, and I bit my lip in excitement beforw turning the bronze door knob. It revealed a simple room, unlike my old room in Idris, but it's warm and comfortable. I see my luggage cases are already stashed beside my bed. I gave Will a smile before crossing the threshold into the room. Just an inch before the door closes,
"Miss Rainheart?" he called.
I opened the door back hastily, perhaps too quickly. I felt myself blushed at the realisation, and composed myself.
"Yes ?" I replied.
"I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me tomorrow as I was planning to walk around London," he said in a breath.
I felt a smile widen across my face. "Yes,"I answered in different tone than before, much gentler. Will gave me a small bow, and waited for me to close the door before I hear his footsteps walking away.
That foolish smile is not leaving my face anytime soon.
