*Lulu PoV*
I sent word to Tessa and Sophie that we're gonna be training today, but I didn't wore my training gear. I wore a simple white dress, which stands out against my tan skin, and went down to breakfast. I met Tessa on my way down, so we walked together to the dining room.
"My God, I'll never be able to get used to the sight of both of you," Charlotte said fondly. She and the others are already seated around the table.
"Why ever not ?" Tessa spoke my question.
"It's because you're so... contrast. It's like someone on purposely coloured you two differently. Lulu is so.. vividly saturated, and Tessa's very.. strongly concentrated. It's a bit.. diverting. And I'm rambling, I apologise," Charlotte tried to explain with her choice of words.
I ended up sitting between Jem and Tessa, and I wanted to run out of the room as fast as I possibly could. I feel the cold air getting colder, and I'm not sure I can stay any longer.
"So Lulu, what are you really ? English or French or ?" Henry asked out of the blue. Charlotte dropped her jaw. I sighed in relief for the diversion. The tension of having Jem beside me is getting unbearable.
"Henry!" Charlotte shot me an apologetic look, but Henry looked at her confusedly, like he didn't know what he did or said wrong.
I laughed a bit. "It's quite fine. I am Irish, English, Chinese and Melayu. My mum is Chinese Indonesian, and my father is English, with a dollop of Irish in him. But the way I speak is mostly influenced by my time in Idris, which is a French accent," I told Henry, but apparently everyone was listening.
"That makes sense. I read in the Codex that Idris is close to Switzerland, right ?" Tessa said. I nodded with a smile.
"Pardon my curiosity, but how many tongues do you speak in, Miss ?" Sophie chimed in.
I counted silently in my head. "Uh, mainly I'm fluent in four. English, of course, Mandarin and Indonesian, and Javanese. I speak another French, Spanish, and a little bit of Latin, but very poorly on the latter languages, I'm afraid. " I answered Sophie.
"That's a handful, I couldn't learn another language to save my life, I reckon," Sophie said, a bit sad.
"I'll be happy to teach you, Sophie. Just you see," I told her, and she gave me a cheery smile. Then I turned to the room.
"Any of you speak any more languages ?" I asked.
Charlotte answered for all of them. "Will speaks English and Welsh, but that's about it."
The conversation about languages ended as abruptly as it had started. We all finished our meal with little talks in between, then when I finished myself, I think I excused myself all too quickly, and drawn unwanted attention. Then I added that I wanted to prep my training gear, and I think that calmed it down.
So I went up to my room and changed quickly into a black tank top, black cotton jacket, black trousers and strapped on my combat boots. I tied my hair in a tight bun with quite difficulty, then went ahead to find the training room. When I did find it, I was found quite stunned. Nothing like the armoury and training room in Alicante, obviously.
But its grand. It's vast and the armoury collection is amazing. From sabres to naginatas to katanas and short sword, long swords, maces, flails, everything else is there. A side of the wall is filled with targets for aiming and throwing knives, a matress for hand to hand combat, it's as big as 15 rooms combined.
I took a bunch of knives from the rack, and stacked them beside my feet. It's dangerous, but I seriously need an outlet. I threw one viciously, and hit the target in the abdomen. I grunted in frustration and threw another violently, and it landed in the middle of its chest cavity. I took another one, and threw it hard, not even aiming. I heard the clack of my elbow, and the knife staggered in the wall beside, not even hitting the target. Few strands of my hair escaped from its band and hung around my face messily. I swiped them away. I cursed and spun, then I noticed Will is behind me.
