She spun in circles on the driveway, her long, jade coat swaying with her body. Her hair was rather damp, soon to be soaked by the downpour of rain. But the weather didn’t seem to faze her, for she continued to spin, a smile never leaving her face.
The boy stood stiffly on the porch, trying not to get his own hair too wet. His arms were crossed across his chest, trying to find some sort of warmth, because his cutoff tee-shirt provided no heat. He was unsure of what to do. He did not like the rain, but he liked the girl who loved the rain. He shuffled closer to the edge of the porch, so he could at least look like he was trying to enjoy it.
“Uh, how long is it supposed to be like this?” He at yelled her, avoiding raindrops that came through the cracks of the porch ledge.
“They say it’s supposed to be like this for the rest of the week,” She cheered, not once stopping her twirling.
“Why do you like the rain so much?” He asked, trying to conceal his feelings about the weather.
This time she stopped twirling, and pondered the question before saying, “The way I think of it, rain is like love: when it comes around, some people embrace it, and some people reject it.”
