Draco hated to admit it, but he had to call Harry a friend. A close friend, in fact, and pretty close at that. After another few weeks, it was barely noticed by one when the other sat close to them on the couch while studying or doing homework, or even watching a strange box that Harry explained was Muggle television.

Once in a while, Draco went out with Harry and his friends, but Harry was starting to stay in more and more often as the thrill of Firewhiskey wore off. Instead, Ron and Hermione would come over and play exploding snap with Draco stayed in his room, embarrassed to come out at all. More than once he caught himself holding Harry's hand, somethings while cooking and other times while doing essays. It was natural.

"Hey, Draco," Harry called down the hallway. "Join us tonight, won't you?"

Ron and Hermione had just Apparated into his living room, a game of magical chess in Ron's hands, and a bag of chocolate frogs in Hermione's hand.

Draco sighed inaudibly, but he came out of the office and sat next to Harry on the couch, unconsciously taking Harry's hand in his. Harry didn't even notice as he was engaged in lively conversation with Ron. Hermione raised her eyebrows, but didn't say anything.

"Hey, er, Draco," Ron said cordially, setting down the game in front of them. "How's it going, mate?"

"Fine," Draco said, smiling over at Harry. Harry grinned right back. Hermione rolled her eyes a little as she put the chocolate frogs on the counter.

"Harry," she said loudly, "I invited Ginny over to see you. I hope that's okay."

"Oh, yeah," Harry said, but he didn't let go of Malfoy's hand.

There was a sudden knock on the door. "There she is now!" Hermione sang, and Harry got up to greet her. Draco felt a twinge of sadness. Now that he could feel again, his emotions seemed to have become intensified. Or maybe he'd just forgotten what emotions actually felt like.

"Hey, Harry!" Ginny said cheerfully. "I brought Luna along, I hope you don't mind."

"Yeah, no problem," Harry said, grinning widely. "Good to see you again, Luna."

"Hi, Harry," Luna said, spinning slowly on the spot. "You've checked this place for wrackspurts, right?"

"Er... right," Harry said, almost laughing at Draco's bemused expression. "Luna, I don't know if you've met him... this is Draco Malfoy?"

"Ah yes, the Slytherin. His dad was a Death Eater, right?" She asked vacantly.

Harry saw Draco stiffen and hurried to change the subject. "Let's play!"

"Hey, we should eat somewhere," Ginny said. "There's no food in the fridge, anyway."

"Yeah, sure," Harry said, standing up and stretching. "Three Broomsticks?"

"Why not?" Ron agreed, and Disapparated, leaving the others to follow him.

Harry Apparated into Hogsmead, taking a deep breath of crisp October air. He'd forgotten his jacket, but inside was warm and they pushed two tables together so they could all fit. On one side sat Ron, Hermione, Neville and Ginny. On the other were Luna, Draco and Harry.
