"Are you guys going to decorate your apartment for Christmas?" Hermione asked Draco one evening.

Draco turned around to face her. She was sitting on their couch, watching the TV. "I'd never considered it. Why?"

"I think it'd look nice," Hermione said thoughtfully, gazing around. Her face lit up. "We can have a decorating party!"

Draco snorted. "Yeah, sure. I'm sure Harry will be pleased."

"I'll mention it to him first, of course," Hermione said irritably.

"Yes, yes, okay," Draco said, dodging away from her cat, who swiped at his ankle. "Just check with him first."

"Will do."

Everyone crowded into their apartment Saturday night, carrying rows of streamers and full of laughter.

Draco didn't think he'd ever smiled so much in his life.

Once during the night he broke away from the rowdy group to go to his room for a breather. He found Harry already inside, leaning on the windowsill and staring out.

"Hey," Draco said, going to stand next to him.

Harry turned and smiled. "Hi."

"Nice night, huh?"

"I'm just glad it's over."

"Yeah."

They stood there in a comfortable type of quiet. Harry's hand brushed his. Draco felt something fall away from his chest. He took a deep breath. He discovered he could. He could breath again. He turned to Harry. "I'm done cutting."

Harry smiled. "Good."

"Forever."

Harry hugged him.

Draco nudged his nose against Harry's, making Harry turn his face up a little. Draco kissed him.

Harry kissed back, still hugging Draco tightly. It was a little awkward, but Harry wouldn't trade it for anything else. They swayed a little, Draco bringing his hands up to Harry's face. Harry's grip on Draco softened, but he bit down gently on Draco's lower lip. Draco let him in, twisting their tongues together.

And all he could think was, Finally

"We almost finished without you guys," Hermione said, rolling her eyes when the two of them emerged. The living room was very festive, covered in red and green with multicolored lights strung everywhere. A tree was decorated in the corner.

"Yeah, you two can make out later," Ron joked. And Harry knew Ron was joking, but he could feel his ears turning bright red, something he was sure Ginny was paying close attention to.

Hermione looked closely at him. "You okay?"

"Er, yeah," he said, clearing his throat and then raising his wineglass. "Here's a toast to friendship. And defeating Death Eaters, as a little bonus." Everyone laughed. "But seriously, I don't know what I'd do without you guys. Old friends... and new." He glanced over at Draco, who grinned in agreement and gave a nod, tilting his glass of scotch toward Harry. He continued. "You guys are really special to me, and always will be. To us!"

"To us!" Everyone echoed, and clinked their glasses together.

Harry couldn't've asked for anything more.
