Anxiety

Sitting under the trees,

the rain splitting my skin.

My heart is racing.

My anxiety festers within.

I'm frozen and flushed.

My mouth is dry.

My body is still shaking from

my adrenaline high.

I attempt to breathe,

but my lungs are tight.

I want to die,

but I can't give up the fight.

Sitting under the trees,

the rain splitting my skin

My heart is racing.

My anxiety festers within.

Stop

I didn't stop loving you.

I decided to stop showing it

because no matter how hard I tried,

you wouldn't get it.

Fairytales and Bliss

I was in it for you;

for the feelings;

for the reality of it all.

You were just stuck

in Fairytales and bliss.

Ash

You weren't interested in loving me.

You were interested in the idea of my love for you,

even though you didn't understand.

You didn't bother feeding the fire.

You just let it burn to ash.

Your Friend

My Hair is lush.

My life is long.

My feet are planted firm and strong.

Between my toes,

the worms wriggle.

Did that sound wrong,

or did that make you giggle?

I live.

I die.

I live again.

Some might say it's kind of Zen.

Some admire my majesty and grace

even though I have no face

I eat and drink through what some might call osmosis.

My offspring are a result of this thing called mitosis.

My hair is lush.

My life is long.

My roots are planted firm and strong.

I know you.

Do you know me?

I am your friend,

the weeping birch tree.
