Drowning

I rolled onto my back and looked at the white ceiling. Everything seemed perfect and I felt happy with the decision I had made to be with her. How could I deny her puppy-dog eyes? I looked over at the woman who had stolen my heart. She was sound asleep with a wide smile on her face. Was she dreaming? If so, what was it about? Her eyes fluttered open and she stared at me.

"Lena..."

"Yes?" I rolled onto my side so we were facing each other. Our noses were only just not touching. I reached my hand out and fiddled with her hair.

"Why did you jump off the boat?" She furrowed her brow and didn't look me in the eyes.

"What?" Her question confused me. When had I jumped off a boat? What was she going on about?

"You aren't really with me, Lena. You are drowning in the ocean." She started yelling but her voice got softer as if it was echoing. "You need to wake up! Wake up, Lena!" I was pulled out of the water by a strong arm attached to a muscular body. I coughed up a heap of water once we hit the sand and looked up at my rescuer. A full face mask was no match for my feelings as I recognised her immediately. Blonde hair that was basically sunlight in the form of har. Blue eyes that reminded me of the sea after a storm.

"Kara!" I blurted out without thinking. I probably should have told her I know her identity later when we weren't running from my mother's henchmen. I looked over at the bunch of men that were chasing after us but as soon as my eyes caught Kara's, I had forgotten about all of that and just got caught in the moment.

"How did you..." She stopped and took off her mask. She stared at me with a questioning look.

"You seriously think I wouldn't recognise you? You might want to go for the spiderman approach where the eyes are covered too." I joked, not fully noticing the fear and seriousness in her eyes.

"We have to go! Now!" She yelled and dragged me up by the arm, then grabbing my hand and pulled me along as she ran to a field just outside the city. I ripped my hand away from her and stopped, making her stop too.

"Where are we?" I demanded. I followed her as she just kept walking. She stayed silent and put her mask back on just before we got close to the city.

"Just come with me. Alex's apartment isn't far from here." She grabbed me again and we ran through some allies into the back door of a building. Kara stripped her suit off, revealing the regular clothes underneath. Just before she ran out into the foyer, I looked down and back up. I grabbed her arm and stopped her.

"I am still very wet!"

"Sorry..." She said provocatively while stepping slightly closer. She grabbed me and pulled me in close, giving me a passionate kiss. I pulled away and out of her arms.

"Kara!" I raised an eyebrow and crossed my arms. I adjusted my tone to a serious one and glared at her. "I can't go out there like this."

"Okay, okay. Just wait here, I will get a towel and a change of clothes from Alex's apartment. Make sure to stay out of sight until I come back, okay?"

"I'll just hang out with my friend 'the broom' until you get back." I grabbed the broom next to me and hugged it. Kara laughed and walked out of the room into the nice looking lobby.

Kara's POV

I took a deep breath as I walked out of the janitor's closet, still slightly wet from saving Lena's life. I ran straight up to Alex's apartment and knocked on the door.

"Kara? Are you okay?" She put her hands on my shoulders and pulled me into the room.

"I need a change of clothes Lena's size. Oh! And towels."

"Why?"

"I'll explain later, just get me those things. Meet me at our spot." I opened the door and ran out, making sure to get back to Lena as quick as possible before she did something she would regret, or got caught.

"Okay!" Alex yelled after me but I had already gotten halfway down her hallway. I made my way back down the emergency stairs and back to where Lena was sitting in the closet. I watched her as she rung out her drenched hair and looked up at me.

"Alex is going to meet us at the fountain in the centre of town with the towel and stuff. We need to get there asap."

"Okay." She muttered and followed me closely. "Why are you in such a rush?"

"Because looking after you wasn't on my list of things to do tonight. Catching your mother, On the other hand, that's high up there."
