Well after the morning I had just experienced I was glad when the bus pulled up at school. Everyone was quick to get off and make there way to get ready for the day ahead of them. Luckily for me I had to go the opposite way from which everyone else seemed to be heading. As I was walking to the office I just kept 're living the disaster that happened on the bus. Surely the rest of the day would just go smoothly. I entered the office and went to the front desk
"Hi I'm Tom Grove, I was told to report to the pricncible on arrival" I told the women who was sitting behind the desk.
"I'm afraid the pricncible has had to go and sort out a problem and won't be able to give you your tour, but he has asked one of our students to come and give you a tour. She should be along shortly if you want to take a seat till she arrives" she replied gestering towards some chairs against the wall. So I went and took a seat and decided to check what lessons I had to look forward to today.
I heard the office door go but was to busy reading my timetable to pay any attention.
"Hi Amber, that's Tom Grove our new transfer student from England. I'm assuming Princible Dean has told you to give him a tour of the school and then take him to his first class. You have been excused if you are running late." The receptionist said. With this I looked up to see Amber looking at me with a smile on her face, and the smile this time did nothing for me as Amber was Zacs girlfriend! Well at least I now knew her name.
"Hi again Tom"
"Oh you two know each other?" The receptionist looked a bit puzzled.
"Yeah we met on the bus this morning while Tom was head butting and falling over things" Amber replied laughing. So much for my day not getting any worse.
"Well come on then let's get this over and done with don't want to make you too late on your first day" Amber said. I quickly stood up and gathered my belongings and walked towards Amber.
"Have a good day you two" the receptionist called as we were walking out the door.
"Thank you for your help" I called back
"So Tom how's your head?" Why oh why did it have to be Amber showing me around. I just needed to make sure I didn't do anything else to make me look any more stupid.
"Sorry about that earlier. Just a bit nervous being my first day" as I replied she stoped and turned towards me
"Look don't worry everyone here is pretty easy to get on with and I'm sure you will find it easy to fit in. Just be a bit more confident and don't keep apologising. You haven't done anything wrong." This how ever was going to be hard to stop doing as it's my automatic response to most things. I just smiled and nodded as I knew the sentence that would come out my mouth would have the word sorry in. " So can I ask why you have transferred over here?" She asks as we carry on walking.
"Well both my parents are in the armed forces and my mum is originally from here and only moved over to the UK to be with my Dad and to have me. They wanted to move over here eventually but something came up so they got transferred and I had to come with them." I ended this with a sigh which I know I shouldn't of done but after the day I was having I couldn't help it.
"So I take it by that you didn't want to move?"
"I don't mind being here it was just hard to leave all my friends and family behind especially being in my last year at school. But my mum gave up her life for us so I'm not about to complain" I said putting a half smile on my face.
"I'm sure as soon as you start making some friends and settling down it won't be that bad. Plus if you ever need anything please just let me know and I'll be happy to help, and I'm sure if I have a word with my boyfriend Zac he can introduce you to some of the lads he mixes with and get you involved in things." It was funny but I actually felt comfortable with Amber even though the thought of Zac didn't sit easy with me especially the thought of mixing with his mates.
