-Lily's POV-

I looked at the sand timer I had created: three hours left. My heart endured the worry needling it but was helpless against my guilt. My friend could lose a part of herself because of me and my selfishness.

"Please hurry..." I murmured despite knowing that my plea would go unheard.

-(Y/n)'s POV-

I had to hurry; time was running out. I glanced at Yukine as we walked home. He immediately noticed my staring and gave me a questioning look. We stopped walking.

"(Y/n), what's wrong?" Yukine asked. There were so many things that were wrong. I wanted to share every single one with him, but I couldn't.

"Yukine, I'm... I'm leaving," my lie rushed from my lips. If things went as planned, then I wouldn't be lying. I might get shot down tonight, but I'd just have to try again.

"Leaving? I thought we were going to Kofuku's?" Yukine asked, confused.

"No, I mean that I am going to leave you and Yato."

Yukine was taken aback. "Did Yato release you?"

"No."

"Then why are you leaving?!"

I felt touched by his concern– though it could've been because he only saw me as a friend. "I have some unfinished business. Yato doesn't know that I am leaving."

Yukine was going to ask me to elaborate, but Yato appeared, his eyes were serious. "Sekki, Yenki!" He called.

Yukine and I turned into our weapon forms: his, twin katanas and mine, a pair of black-rimmed glasses.

Before we could ask what was going on, about 50 (if my cool sight ability was correct) spider-shaped phantoms flooded the area. "It looks like our little friend has some angry fangirls," I said aloud.

"Angry what?" Yukine asked. I ignored his reply. I was too busy handling my excitement that I just said something cool(-ish) before a battle.

I scanned the area and couldn't find the crimson targets I saw during my first battle with a phantom. None of the spiders had a weakness. "(Y/n), what do you see?" Yato asked, he too was scanning the enemies.

"Nothing for now. I'll think of something. You just make sure these guys don't get out of hand," I replied.

There was something strange about these spiders that made it seem different from the one that we fought before. The lack of weaknesses was an obvious indicator, but there was more. It's like they were phantoms, but not phantoms. They looked the same, hideous as always, but they didn't give off the same negative aura that a real phantom would. They have to be puppets controlled by.... I spotted an ominous figure standing on top of a skyscraper, watching.

Yato had his hands full, but in order to hurt the fans, you gotta hurt the fandom. "Yato, jump onto the nearest building. It'll buy us some time!" I shouted.

He did as instructed.

"Now, I want you to take me and throw me at the figure over there!"

"What?"

"You better do it, Yato, or I swear these big ass spiders are going to TAINT YOUR SCRAWNY ASS!"

Reluctantly, Yato took me off and snapped my ends so that I was flat like an untouched pair of 3D glasses from the movie theater. I now knew how sweaty Yato's hands really were. And I never again wanted to feel the sensation. Yukine's tolerated this miserable fate for so long...

"Owww!" I hissed at Yato.

The god ran his fingers across my, now flat, surface, "This is the land of the rising sun. Your desecration shall not be allowed. Hear me, I am the god Yato. I now lay thee waste with the Yenki, and expel thy vast defilement. I cleanse thee, REN!"

Then he threw me like a boomerang. And like a boomerang, I shot through the space between Yato and the...thing. I was so dizzy that I couldn't get a good look at it. If a weapon could throw up, that's probably what I did.

I couldn't tell whether or not I hit the dark figure, but it disappeared once I was within range.

After passing through where it was, I curved back around and to where Yato was on the building as the fake phantoms dissipated into black mist.

Just before I slammed into them, Yato called, "Yukine, (Y/n)!" With those words, Yukine and I changed back into our human form and joined him on the rooftop.

My head whipped to the sun for any sense of time. I'd wasted precious time fighting. Uncomfortably obvious of Yato's presence, I said in an emotional tone, "Yukine, I'm in love with you."
