We're Gonna Be Great!

Chapter 11 : "My Happy Place..."

"Are you for real?" she asked him softly. Colby grinned.

"I try to be. As much as possible. How about you?" He asked and she giggled.

"Most of the time, yeah. Right now... completely. I'm completely for real." she assured him. "In fact, it's probably safe to say that this is the most real I've ever been... with anyone.. like, ever." she confirmed and Colby was moved by her sincerity.

"Oh yeah?" he asked. She nodded.

"Mmm, hmmm..." she said and nodded back and he believed her. "I probably shouldn't be saying shit like that. I'll probably scare you away. But I've never been one to beat around the bush." she told him.

"I have noticed... " he said and she turned and looked over at him in time to see him smirk. She bumped him in the arm with her arm again and scoffed.

"Oh yeah? You have, have you?" she accused and he pretended to look guilty. "Then why you still here? Huh? Makin' eyes at me? Pretty boy... " Neena teased and Colby's mouth dropped open and he pretended to be shocked but only for a second before changing his face back to normal.

"Cuz I like it." he told her and looked right into her eyes and held her gaze and she couldn't look away from those bluer than blue eyes... "And you're not going to scare me away." he told her. "Not gonna happen." he said and she felt the impact of his words and it made her catch her breath and then breathe it out slowly as she completely submitted to the intensity of his stare.

"Good." she told him, and he was completely overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment. Damn, Colby! He thought to himself... Is this really happening?

She then made her way under his arm and entangled herself around his waist as she snuggled her head against his chest and gave him a squeeze. He draped his arms around her and completely submitted to her embrace. He felt *held* and it felt amazing... It had been so long since anyone had held him and never before had the intensity been like this! Like her!!

"Come on... " he said to her and kissed the top of her head and breathed in the scent of her curls as they tickled his nose. "We should get out of here." Colby told her after realizing just how many eyes were on them at that moment as he glanced around and the rest of the world suddenly came into focus. That was disconcerting! He thought. "You wanna walk down to the beach? We can take off after that if you want. I just want to say hey to the ocean before we leave." he told her and she nodded.

"Yeah, let's do that." she agreed and he waited for her to disentangle herself and start to get up before he stood up as well.

"Hey. I wanna treat. You want something sweet?" she asked him and he raised an eyebrow at her.

"Uh, yeah! What you got?" he said in a silly voice and it took Neena a second but then she caught on.

"You're funny! I meant something to eat." she said but that didn't exactly help.

"So did I... !" Colby replied in his best pretend-sexy way as he slowly licked his lips.

"What? Ah, dang... I do this all the time. I am innuendo inept. I really am. I just say anything and it manages to come out of my mouth dirty." she explained and Colby pressed his lips together firmly, trying desperately not to laugh. It took another second but Neena finally caught on.

"See! That's exactly what I'm talking about!" she complained with a big grin and Colby had to let his laugh out playfully. Neena joined in and they both laughed at their own silliness for a good long while.

"Okay, you silly-butt, I want some cotton candy. I saw it inside the Beach Burger place so I'mma go get some. You want me to get you any?" she asked. Colby thought about it for a second.
