Since the first chapter was very short there you go, I really hope you like it and follow me for more!!

The next morning I wake up and get ready, the same as usual. But, this time, before I grab my bag and head to the door I am startled by a voice in the kitchen. I start stressing out and panicking, the only people who have the keys to the apartment are my parents and my brother but they are all out of town for  the day. I intend to act first then think about it, I do the same this time. I walk to the kitchen while holding a pair of scissors I found on my desk, it was the first sharp item that I found. I see three shadows in the kitchen, So I walk in, pointing the scissors in the direction of the shadows. Then, my older brother Caleb and both of my parents turn around and say:

‘Surprise!’

I start laughing as I head inside the kitchen to hug them. My parents and my older brother left town to attend a wedding, I had to stay here because I have school. Both of my parents are successful lawyers, they are both very opinionated, we end up having many debates when we have dinner together. This year Caleb is starting college, he will be studying law, he takes after my parents. But I don’t, sometimes I feel like i’m the odd one out in the family, I feel like I don’t belong anywhere: My grades are average, I am not persuasive or opinionated, I intend to complain a lot, I like doing thing for my own pleasure and I am very shy. I don’t have any hobbies or talents or a boyfriend! I wonder, what is it that is stoping me from changing my life? Is it my comfort zone or my lack of confidence? Whatever it is, it has to change. I wave them goodbye and head down to meet Christy in her car. I get in and yell out:

‘Hi Girl!’ She smile at me and replies

‘Heya ready for another day of school?’ I sigh

‘Not really but I have been thinking about that guy from yesterday all night! I can’t wait to see him again’ I say.

‘well you have get to know him! You should have the courage to talk to him’ She says in an understanding tone. ‘But first you need a small makeover, all these hoodies won’t make you stand out. He has to notice you.’ Now, she sound way more excited than usual, even she always is excited.

I look at her confused ‘ Okay. What? How? and When?’ I ask.

‘A makeover, by changing you hairstyle getting you new clothes and stuff like that and when? ASAP so right after school I’m taking you to the mall’ She says. I actually feel good about this, I want to be noticed for once I am not exactly sure what changed my mind but I think it might be the guy by the lockers.

Right after school, we meet near her car and head straight to the mall. We get to the mall and window shop until Christy points at her favorite store: Forever 21. I quickly notice that the clothes they sell are not really my style but I decide to trust Christy and try on everything she gives me. She picks out a pair of heels, a pair of boots, a few tops, skirts and dresses. Most of them are very noticeable, if I wear them, I wouldn’t be able to blend in the crowd instead of standing out. This thought makes me feel very anxious, I am not used to drawing attention and I am not sure I am comfortable with it but, I need to step out of my comfort zone. I try them all on, they look good on me.

‘Thank you so much I actually don’t look terrible in these clothes!’ I get close to her and open my arms.

‘All the guys are gonna crack when they say in these clothes, you look hot!’ She says as she leans in for a hug.

‘As if’ I say while laughing.

‘Look we don’t have much time let’s go buy these because the next step is makeup.’ She says, we run to the cashier. I never put makeup on, last time I had makeup on was at a wedding, one year ago. We get to Sephora and again, she picks up a few things without saying a word. I have never seen most of the things in her hands before, one of them looks like something tinker bell’s gynecologist would use, the rest of them just look like torture tools. She sees the surprise in my eyes and she yells:

‘That’s and eyelash curler! Have you never seen one before?’ she says.

‘Oh, yes I totally know what that is! OMG like yeah this is so important like, I would look so ugly without it’ I say teasing her. She gives me a deadly look.

‘More shopping less sarcasm’ she says.

We finish buying makeup and head to her favorite hair salon. I trust her because, 1 So far, she has done a great job I must admit and 2 She always has really rad haircuts. The hair stylist look at my hair with disgust but she is trying very hard to hide it so I don’t say anything. ‘Well I hate to break it to ya but you have split ends. I suggest we cut the ends and dye it.' I nod and she gets started. She cuts about half of my hair but it doesn’t matter because it is so long. She starts dying it but I can’t exactly see which color she picked but I wait till the end. As soon as she is finished she hands me a mirror. What I see is jaw-dropping, I don’t recognize myself anymore. I doubt that it is a bad thing though. For the first time ever, I feel pretty, all I need is a little makeup. It is sad that I feel that way about myself but I have tried to accept myself and my short and skinny body, but I was never able to accept myself just the way I am. I laugh and turn around, I see Christy looking at me with astonishment she faces the hair stylist, claps and yells ‘BRAVO!’. I take another look at the mirror, my hair is now brown with warm tones ( AKA: Red and light brown highlights). We head to the car, I smile with confidence and say:

‘Tomorrow I’m gonna look for him and talk to him, it’s time I step out of my comfort zone.’
