So Much for Happily Ever After

Katerina and Sirius brought baby Katherine Lily Black home the new parents were glued to the precious baby ignoring the outside world wanting to spend every waking moment with her. As Voldemort grew with power and many dying from his Death Eaters Katerina worried for Katherine's safety Sirius assured her that he won't let anything become of her she wanted to spend time with her family while Sirius dealt with the Order the rare chance was the Christmas holiday. Katerina took baby Katherine to a safe house where Lily, James and Harry were little Harry celebrating his first Christmas when greeted by little Katherine Lily was happy to Katerina in several months the two caught up on everything. Katherine watching Harry flying on a toy broom she was jealous she went and manipulated the broom as if she was controlling it causing little Harry to go round and round James and Sirius watched it fascinated at how Katherine was able to do that Katerina saw the commotion she said "Katherine let Harry control the broom" she allowed the broom fling Harry into the air Sirius caught Harry Katerina said "Katherine" she looked up at her mom smiling Lily said "Yeah I see it" she said "See what?" Lily said "She's mischievous like her mother" she said "I think she spent too much time with her great granddad Josef". As they were to leave Katerina learned that Peter Pettigrew was their location keeper she stressed to Lily that Sirius is the better choice Sirius said "No, I'll be the better decoy" she said "Lily, you trust me right?" she said "Yeah of course" she said "I don't think Peter is the right choice" James said "Sirius is right, Peter will do fine nothing to worry about Katey" she hugged Lily she said "You feel you're in danger you let me know" she said "Of course, take care of little Katherine". Katerina was right about Peter she didn't trust him not even in school he was too easy to manipulate and she saw him as a weakest link in the group at their home Sirius saw his wife was content in the nursery he said "What is it Katey?" she said "You sure Peter is the better choice on protecting them? I'm not willing to bet on that" he said "Katey, Peter is one of us he would never betray us" she said "You sure about that? If he was offered something you think he wouldn't serve all of us up on silver platter to get it?" he said "Where is this coming from?". She sat down in the rocking chair she said "The last time we saw him I got a bad vibe from him as if he was conflicted about something? You wanted me to not to use my gift but I could tell there's something not right with him" he took her hands he said "I understand you are wrought with worry, and second guessing everyone to be a Death Eater I can assure you Peter isn't one" she said "How can you?" he said "He would never betray us" she hugged him she said "I hope for your sake you're right" Sirius riddled with that same suspicion about Peter as well he was going to keep an eye on him very carefully.

Snow turned to spring then turned to summer Katherine a year older she was having a lovely birthday and realized that she could read her mom's mind and speak to her giving Katerina quite a shock because Katherine was only a year old and displaying legilimency really earlier than she did she was writing a letter to Lily on this revelation speaking of Katherine may be worse than she was in Hogwarts and went on to talking about how she missed them and that Katherine would've enjoyed them at her party. Katerina put Katherine down for bed when she came down the stairs to seeing Sirius talking with Remus she said "What are you doing Sirius?" he said "I'll be back soon Katey" he kissed her and walked out she said "Remus?" he said "Nothing to worry about Katey, he's gone to get a present for Katherine he just forgot to pick up the other day" she said "You do know I can tell when you're lying?" he said "Yes, and Sirius told me that Katherine enjoys my bedtime stories" she said "Fine, one bedtime story" he said "Haha you are no fun" she said "I remember when you tried to kill me once?" he said "I also remember you turn into a phoenix" she said "Go on, Katherine is probably floating in her crib as we speak". Katerina had came up later to Katherine's room to find Remus sound asleep she put a blanket on him as he sat in the rocking chair beside Katherine's bed she greeted by Sirius with a gift he said "Did Remus leave already?" she said "No, he's asleep in the rocking chair seems like his story knocked him out" he gave her the gift she said "My birthday was couple weeks ago" he said "I know, but I wanted you to have it" she opened it to reveal a necklace a owl pendant necklace she said "I love it" he said "Your love for owls and to commemorate our first spark" she said "The owl tower, where I knew you were nervous to ask me out on a date knowing my reputation" he said "Look how that turned out, we are married and have a beautiful baby girl" she said "You are the one who saved me from a life of darkness and losing you I wouldn't know what to do" he took her hands he said "You'll never lose me, because once upon a time I became yours and you became mine and we'll stay together through both the tears and laughter because that's what they call happily ever after" she kissed him.

Katerina was evacuated with Katherine to her family home in Bulgaria because Voldemort's Death Eaters were on the rise and some Order members were killed Sirius left Katerina and Katherine in care of Josef and Tatia knowing they would be safe from harm's way. Katerina waited for word on Sirius Tatia and Josef taking care of Katherine for her she would just sit looking out the window hoping for her husband's safe return. Halloween came Katherine was dressed up nicely with Josef they went out trick and treating while Katerina was in the gardens she felt something come over her as if she was linked to Lily she felt what she felt and saw what she saw at Godric's Hollow Voldemort had found them he killed James and then went after Lily she was saying something to Harry she felt the blast of the killing curse and heard Lily say goodbye to her Katerina fell down to her knees crying for her friends' death. Tatia went out and found Katerina crying she said "Katey, what is it?" she got up she said "They're dead, Lily and James Potter he killed them" she said "How do you know?" she said "I saw it happen, as if Lily and I were connected I felt it the killing curse he was too strong for them James didn't even get use his wand" Tatia said "Katey, are we in danger?" she said "No, Sirius made sure of that, Sirius oh no". She went running back to the house Josef and Katherine had made it home safely she went and hugged her daughter tight tears falling down from her face she worried for her safety. So as dark of the night Katerina waited and waited she fell asleep when knock on the door she sprung up from the chair and went to the door opening it to Remus he said "Katey" she said "Where's Sirius?" he said "Can we talk outside?". She walked out to the gardens he said "Sirius betrayed James and Lily" she said "He wouldn't do that" he said "Katey, the Ministry is looking for him to arrest him for their deaths and countless others" she said "Sirius would never do that, you sure Peter Pettigrew didn't do it?" he said "Katey, I'm so sorry" she said "Leave Remus" he said "Katey" she yelled "Remus Leave". She was in the Owl Tower she greeted by Sirius he was hiding he said "Katey" she turned to him she said "Sirius" she threw her arms around him she said "I know you didn't betray Lily and James" he said "You were right, it was Peter Pettigrew he did it all, I'm going to track him down and make him pay" she said "Sirius, the Ministry is looking for you" he said "Know this, what becomes of me that I love you and Katherine tell her that her father is a good man and he would've died than let any harm come to her" she said "I love you Sirius". They kissed he said "Remember that through the tears and laughter what makes it happily ever after" she said "Know the owls will always be on your side" he said "I love you Katey" he left she fell down crying knowing Josef watched the whole thing he said "Katey" she turned to him she cried in his arms.

Katerina learned Sirius' fate she was in the gardens she unleashed her phoenix powers becoming unstable because of her emotions so out of control Tatia tried to bring her back but it was no use Katerina was long gone. Sirius sent to Azkaban to be tormented by Dementors Remus came to check up on Katerina he learned from Tatia and Josef that Katerina became a phoenix because of Sirius' imprisonment and hasn't came back he thought he should try to talk to her but the crying of Katherine brought Katerina home a mother-daughter bond seems to be the only thing that reminded Katerina that Katherine is still here and she needs her mom. Katerina came back to herself but she wasn't truly herself not without Sirius as she held Katherine looking out the window she said "Once upon a time I became yours and you became mine and we'll stay together through both the tears and laughter because that's what they call happily ever after" no matter what life brings us we'll always strive through it for we are Vulchanova and that's what we do".
