I watched Dani and Louis interact from across the room. It was clear they were in love, even as they spoke now neither of them broke contact with each other.

I ached for the feeling of Emma holding on to me. Just standing next to her, smelling her perfume, feeling her energy.

Louis tenderly wrapped Dani up with his arms pressing her into a hug, no space between their bodies, his eyes were closed but he looked scared.

What're you doing? I thought to myself. I was asking too much, I was asking him to risk it all for me, to risk Dani.

I pulled out my phone clicking on the number he called from. I quickly typed my message pressing send as it whoosed away.

Not more than a minute passed when I heard the text incoming notification sound. I clicked it open and read.

I replied quickly watching the rest of them from across the room. I sent the text laying the phone down on the counter.

No one was paying me any attention, the six of them all discussing possible situations and scenarios for something that would never happen. I backed out of the room quietly closing the door with no notice leaving them all behind.

Once down in the parking lot I pressed the unlock button on the keys I'd swiped off the counter opening Niall's rental Range Rover and jumping in. I didn't waste any time getting out of there, I was both on a mission and determined to do it without someone trying to stop me.

This was entirely my problem, I wasn't going to let anyone get hurt for me, not anymore.

The drive would take time, but I knew the route by heart as I drove from the cemter of the city out into the countryside. I drove in silence just thinking about Emma, wishing she was singing horribly like she did from the passenger seat next to me.

It was miserable to imagine her but not have her. Now I could do nothing but picture her and our unborn baby, suffering somewhere, gripping the wheel tightly I watched my knuckles turn white as I pressed down harder on the gass pedal.

After an hour I started to notice the snow as the altitude grew. The roads were clear but with each passing tree the whiter it became.

I pressed on.

The roads turned snowy forcing me to pull off the side and put on chains for the tires, which luckily Niall's rental had, strapped up and ready to go again I turned off the main drag to finish the last hour of the drive offroad.

It was terrible terrain to carve through but I made it eventually, the snow beginning to fall again.

Everything about it brought back a memory as the car cleared the final brush to reveal the snowy cabinside.

I parked and opened the door feeling the wintery blast of the frozen air around me.

"It's beautiful." Emma's voice floated into my memories. I rememebered her taking in the scenery, she was wearing a gray sweater and a navy blue beanie, her golden brown hair catching the light from the snow banks. It wasn't beautiful, but she was.

I smiled cupping a fresh handful of snow in the hands and rolling it into a ball. Lobbing it towards her i laughed as it hit her arm breaking apart and dusting her in snow. I started to make a second snowball as she turned with a grin.

"You're dead!" She squealed happily ducking behind a tree to make her own snowball. I tossed my second one her way as she yelped from her hiding spot.

I walked from the car up to the cover porch, it was dark and cold inside as I swung the door open with my spare key.

Shutting the door behind me I looked at the room before me, everything was neatly tucked away, I'm not sure who cleaned it last.
