Strange encounters

"Hey Yukio!"

I saw someone running towards us. He looked pretty similar to Yukio, but a little more, what's the word? Fun. Yukio is kind of the type to follow rules; whereas this kid looks like he only breaks rules. so a bit like me.

"Hey Yukio, are you going- Hey! are you new?"

I only nodded. I didn't exactly trust him yet. He could be trouble.

"Oh, Welcome to True Cross Academy! I hope you enjoy being here!" he exclaimed with a large smile.

Damn, you are really freaking adorable. I thought to no one in particular.

He suddenly looked at me. "Oh crap, did I say that out loud?"

"I didn't hear you say anything?" Yukio said.

"Yeah, ok whatever. Hey Yukio I have to talk to yo- Hey wait I asked first!" We exclaimed at the same time. We just looked at each other.

"He's my brother! So I get to talk to him first!" He exclaimed. I just rolled my eyes. Of course they are brothers. They do look alike.

I pulled Yukio aside, "Since he's your brother, are you gonna tell him about the thing?" I asked him.

"I'll explain everything after our classes, if that's okay with you?" Yukio asked.

"Um yeah, I guess. I mean, he won't freak out will he?" I hesitantly asked.

He seemed uncertain, but finally said, "No, I don't think so. But you will have to be there because you will better explain it than me."

"Ugh, fine." I said, acting like it was a hassle. On the inside, I was scared as hell. I didn't know how he would react. I thought maybe I would actually make a friend here.

12:34.

One minute till lunch. I was so ready for this class to be over. I saw Yukio just reading a book. tch, nerd. I had no idea what I was doing for lunch; I just wanted to get out of this class.

We had an hour for lunch. So if I finish in less than 30 minutes, I could go into the nearby woods and stretch out my wings. God they are so sore. It's hard not to move them even a little bit. I can shrink them down a bit, but even then, I have to fold them across my back, and that hurts.

Ring ring ring.

There was the bell! I got up and ran out the classroom, only to realize I had no idea where it was. So I backtracked to Yukio and just walked with him. After I got in the lunch room, I saw Rin. Huh, I guess we have the same lunch period.

"Hey akane! come sit next to me!" Rin called. I just waved as went up to the lunch machines.

18,000 yen!? I don't have that kind of money! I just walked away and sat next to Rin.

"What's that?" I asked pointing to Rin's lunch.

To which he replied, "It's my lunch, I make it myself since the food here is so expensive."

I sighed, "I guess I have to put my only skill to work." He just looked at me confused. I just put my finger to my lips in a 'be quiet' motion.

I slipped out of my seat and scanned the room. Two tables down were two unattended lunch boxes. There was only one girl there. I looked around, there was one guy staring at her. Bingo. I went up to the guy while his friends weren't looking.

"Don't turn around. I need you to go up to that girl and- you know who I'm talking about, give her this line," I whispered it in his ear, "yeah just exactly like that, she'll fall in love with you. it works everytime." Objective one complete.

As he was distracting her and making jokes, I went up to the boxes lunches and looked inside I quickly grabbed a napkin and stole a rice ball from each box. I saw one girl had pocky so I took that too. Couldn't resist. I saw two girls walking back distracted, by gossip probably. I quickly closed the boxes and ran back to Rin

"Woah, that was pretty impressive!" he exclaimed.

"Meh, not my best work, but hey I got lunch." I said. This was normal for me, considering my experience on the streets.

"Wanna trade a rice ball for some sushi?" I asked. We basically spent the rest of lunch trading food and talking.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

I forgot to go out and stretch my wings, Damnit.

"I think we have french together next." He said.

I asked, "Can you show me where that is? This school is so huge!"

"Yeah, it is. But stick with me and you'll never be lost!" he said with a cheeky grin. I just blushed slightly and grinned right back.

I might just take you up on that offer.
